Forgive my ignorance, but will Smith’s ban rule him out of the Plymouth match? I was under the impression that league bans were competition specific. Probably wrong though… He'll be banned for the Plymouth game.

Not surprised the appeal was unsuccessful. Unfortunately not enough to mitigate it.

We’ve hardly been banging them in and have barely scored an open play goal in the league in last couple of months. Maybe we can come up with something a little different in his absence. He’s also missed 4 great chances in the last 2 games I’ve seen, Mansfield and Gillingham. Hopefully someone else can make a difference. Jason seems to want to give Angol a chance and the fact he brought him on when Smith was sent off against Gillingham suggests he’ll want to play with one larger forward. Other option might be going with a more mobile front 3 and adding an extra man in the middle of midfield, suggested in the past by someone on here, but maybe easier with Smith as focal point. Only other fit forward is Tope isn’t it (though Hish might be close) assuming Patrick will be used wide? He seems to have been playing everywhere else but his favoured position!

I think we pretty much have to go for the win. Given our situation. So, something different and more mobile gets my vote. Even if it's more risky. But I imagine we'll just see a slight variation on our usual set up, with Angol in place of Smith.

Huge game in the context of our season. Hope everyone is fired up for it. 3 points would get us back in the mix with all to play for in the 2nd half of the season.

Well, there has to be some improvement somewhere……
Shocking half of “football”.

A point probably a fair result, especially when we went one down late on. Played better second half, first half a shocker, now we are five points behind Colchester with a game in hand , so now need new manager to sort out this poor season.⚽️⚽️⚽️

A point brings us that bit closer to the "leading pack"...sort of!

Shocking first half. Didn't start playing until to the second half. Why can't we play like that from the start? Tope, when he came on did more in the first 5 minutes than Lee did in the first half. How people rate him as a replacement for Harry S I don't know. Sorry Deano,is not the player he was,and why he was brought back I just don't know.when is his contract up? Have to praise the management and team for that second half turn round in form and type of play. More dropped points. Even though other teams around lost. Cup match down at Plymouth next. And if we can play like that second half, then we have a strong chance.

Today’s match and result highlights three main topics for me . Firstly , we need a new manager and fast ….. ideally this week if possible . Secondly , we need as many new signings as possible to boost the squad as soon as the new manager finds their feet . Thirdly , I am so glad that we now have a break from the pressures of the League when we play in the cup next Saturday . With regards to the cup I could not care less if we lose or not , a win would be great with a chance of a big money tie in the fourth round whilst a defeat would leave us to concentrate on getting out of the bottom two . With regards to my attitude towards the cup I would rather we still be in league two next season rather than trying to fit in International mid week matches whilst in the NL because we went and won the bloody cup !

They say the sign of a good team is one that plays poorly and still wins 1-0. Does that mean the sign of a poor team is one that plays well and doesn't win? Well, I dont know but if we forget the 1st half today (it was pretty forgettable) and focus on the 2nd 45, there was plenty to be optimistic about. Great industry from Gape and N'Guessan and some good stuff from Perrera, Mellor and Fadahunsi.
That said a couple of great chances went begging and suddenly we get sucked over to the left and our opponents quickly switch it across and play in the man advancing from deep. (a good finish but frustrating as hell). Fully deserved to level things late on.
If we play to the level of that 2nd half in the coming weeks we should surely start to pick up points. Any one know how much longer before Eastie's likely to figure again?

Jason is doing a good job at present shuffling the limited pack who are available for selection and making us harder to beat. I'm not expecting a great number of new signings as basically we don't have the money to bring them.

To answer Cheshire 's question regarding Eastie. I spoke to him before the game today. He said he could be back next week or the week after.

Let’s not kid ourselves. Newport were poor. The goalkeepers both kept passing the ball to one another. I appreciate we have injuries and a suspension but if we cannot win at home against a side like Newport we will remain in the relegation places.
