Harry this afternoon received a fine and extra suspension for his actions at Gillingham. I thought he might get one or the other but not both.

Let's hope our new manager has a goal-scoring forward on his shopping list after Harry has had his suspension increased by a further two games.

Please, everyone, no more 'it was never a red card'. We've done that.

On the bright side he can not play before the transfer window closes. A player who gets suspended for closer to one third of matches might put off other suitors.

Another discusting decision from people who are not fit for purpose. That will be 9 games the guy misses this season due to officials making poor judgment, and 2 of those are for him losing his temper about it. What ever he said to the reff was probably true.
I bet these people do not even watch the game.
That said, If we are going to continue to play direct football and rely on set pieces, we really should have a back up for Smith anyway, like we had when Omar B and Richie Bennet were Competing for the roll.
Maybe now would be a good time to bring in another target man to rival Smith.

What he said might have been true but there are clear rules that set out what penalties are open to officialdom should a player not follow them. Smith is a seasoned professional, not some raw youngster, who should be well aware as to what those rules are, a message that the management/coaching staff should reinforce. It was Smith who made the poor judgment.

It was Smith who made the poor judgment. Those complaining about officials' decisions on here remind me of spoilt, wailing 8-year olds tediously and repeatedly crying "it's not fair". Well sometimes things are not fair and should be called out. Given the successful appeal from Everton, we can clearly see a lack of consistency from officials in all areas, so not sure they always merit respect. If they did their job better perhaps the likes of Smith would not reach boiling point. The guy is elbowed and shoved every week and refs ignore it but when he looks at anyone he is shafted. I remain more shocked by the darn right incompitence of the ref against Gillingham than what Smith uttered to him when he was shafted by them again. He was also punished at the start of the season for kicking out on a guy who was grinding his studs into Smiths foot.

But this just becomes self-reinforcing and self-defeating, doesn't it?
'I think the officials are poor and have it in for me, therefore they are not necessarily due respect from me, and if am censured I will react badly'.
How does that help?

But that does not mean it should be accepted as just. Its crap officicating, no consistency, no balls, and no common sense.

Sorry but the FA have shown a high level of incompetence and inconsistency in this matter when compared with Kalvert-Lewin.
Of course, the Everton player being a PL performer, had the eyes of the national press and social media on his side and it appears the FA bowed down to that pressure. So much for backing their referees when the chips are down.
Down at L2 level the media scrutiny is negligible thus you get this level of inconsistency at the very top of the game.
Smith gets ball first and momentum carries him into the opponent who was also moving towards Harry. K-L takes man first ball second. So which challenge was worse? Don't even bother answering that one cos I already know the answer.
In the heat of receiving what many (including some Gills fans) a very harsh red, he says something untoward and the thin skinned Rock reports it. The FA backing their ref on this occasion (see above) slap a two match ban and a particularly heavy fine for a L2 player.
And yet there are people on here backing that and think there's nothing wrong? Jesus.
It is rare for an EFL player to get a misconduct charge mainly because most refs take the heat of the moment into account. (A "seasoned pro" Harry maybe but he's also a human being. And for people on here to slag him off well, they must polish their halos every morning.)
Not so poor Mr Rock who probably walks off the pitch every match thinking he has had a good match. He is not alone and that's a big problem with officials in our game.
Rock lost a hell of a lot of weight to stay in the EFL, concerned that the fitter youngsters coming through would end in his demotion (his assertion, not mine). Personally, I think his weight issues should be the least of his concerns.
Time and again over many years he has appeared to try and ruin Sutton's afternoon/evening with some quite appalling decision making.
This has taken that apparent enterprise to a new level. I used to give him the benefit of the doubt but no more.
His next arrival at the car park entrance could prove an interesting conversation seeing as he quite likes a chat.

It's not a question of what is wrong, it's a question of who is in authority. Having once taken their measure, in advance of events (as we collectively seem to have done), be wise and act accordingly. It's really very simple. It's basic adulthood. The world is not a fair place.
Not 'accepting it' as just makes no difference to anything. We are still the losers, and have proved nothing to anyone.
(Edit: I mean that the player should be wise and act accordingly)

markf: What you think is irrelevant...🙂 If that's the case, let's shut this forum down now because so is what everybody else thinks and posts on here. As for authority, do you not think that in the current climate and considering the dominant story of the hour, that questioning it, even calling it out isn't a good thing? It certainly worked in the K-L case.
