Steve sounds increasingly irritated by these interviews. Is he obliged to do them?

I thought Tony would ask about Craig not reappearing for the second half and Ben’s continued absence (after Steve said he would be fit for Walsall) and wondered if some questions are now off limits?

Only when this chap does it. I get the feeling he does not like the analytical questions he asks, as he does not like shearing too much insite into team affairs..

He certainly gives the impression that he wants to get them over and done with as soon as possible. Tony probably feels compelled to rap them up quickly. I’d be intrigued to see if he’s a bit less reticent when (or if!) we actually win a match.

Tony and the manager are basically on the same side here aren't they? Yes its important for Steve to do the interviews so that the supporters can hear directly from the manager. But its not quite the same as a Premier League manager facing a hostile press. Why don't the 2 of them have a chat and work our the best way for these conversations to sound more relaxed e.g. am I approaching this interview the wrong way and annoying you? What angle might i take when asking about substitutions, formations, tactical set up, injury news etc.?

I think Steve was probably of the opinion (as were many of us) that the story of the match was us not taking our chances. End of. And that's what's coming over.
But Tony is quite a conversational type of interviewer, and both Matt and (especially) Dos were quite conversational people. Steve is not. And neither Matt or Dos minded making (basically) the same reply, repeatedly, but in a number of different ways. Steve doesn't do that.

Totally agree kpinwp. I can only see these interviews getting shorter and shorter.

If you watch the post match interviews when Steve was at Hornchurch the questions were very similar but he did let the interviewer finish their sentences. Of course they were winning at the time.

I’d bet on Tony being there at the end of the season, let’s see about SM!

Maybe, just maybe, chumminess isn't at a premium just at the moment?

It was a more relaxed interview when it was held at the training ground with a different interviewer #justsaying
