Not sure why there are discussions re next season and who might/might not be playing for the club. We still have 10 ‘cup finals’ to play this season. Wins against Grimsby and FGR is obviously a must, plus 4 more wins - this might be enough. Still 30 points to play for. These discussions are taking place because, while it is still possible that we could stay up, the great likelihood is that we will go down. Increasingly so with every passing match. So some fans are mentally drawing a line and preparing themselves for what might come / should come next as regards the squad. While you may not agree with it, it surely isn't very hard to understand? On a purely 'I get where you're coming from' level? I'm in the camp that we're still in this season, and however slim, we still have something to play for. We still have no idea where we will be or the intentions of each individual players, or who Morison wants to keep or bring in. So I won't be indulging in any of those conversation at this stage.

I quite agree that we have no actual idea who will be where, etc. I think those who have written off this season are metaphorically 'drowning out a silence' with the speculation. It's just a touch of human nature.

I would be very angry with the players if I found out that they had already given up, which I do not think is the case. But as a paying spectator and supporter who will be there next week and at FG cheering us on, I see survival as very unlikely, even if certainly not impossible. We now rely on the poor form of others to be a big factor, and we must be there to apply the pressure, and that's all we can do. That said, I would hope that some of the board and decision makers do indeed have one eye on the nat league next year as it would also be a challenge, especially with (from what I can gather) a squad full of players out of contract in the summer, Perhaps this could work out in our favor, or perhaps it wont.. But I am certainly starting to contemplate these scenarios,

Think statistically we have the kindest run-in out of the four teams at the bottom, both Colchester and FGR have absolutely horrendous sets of fixtures remaining. One things for sure.. we absolutely must beat Grimsby this coming Saturday.

But I am certainly starting to contemplate these scenarios, i can't imagine for one moment there is a squad full of players out of contract at the end of the season. Surely we didn't bring in players in the summer with just one year contracts.

However much it is,only one club since 1986 has ever returned immediately to the Football league: Cheltenham Town in 2016.
