And who do you expect us to play? The early games in particular will be away to allow for pitch preparation time. I guess the invitation to Anfield never materialised. Seriously, playing away games will almost certainly be against teams from lower divisions. Ambition ? They are friendlies. Despite what us fans may think the manager wants games to try out systems and get minutes into players’ legs. If we can get a home game against bigger opposition then that might help the bank balance but often doesn’t suit the manager’s needs.

Whilst it might look nice to have fixtures against Arsenal and Manchester City to look forward to for us it would not benefit the players or management with formations etc . In addition our goalkeeper might suffer a back injury continuously picking the ball out of the back of the net !

I'm half expecting a PSF against Palace though what with this ground share.

No ambition in any of those psf games. That's one of the funniest things I've read on here for a while.

No ambition in any of those psf games. What exactly do you think pre-season friendlies are for? We need the players to get together in almost match situations to see how they gel as a team.

No ambition in any of those psf games. What exactly do you think pre-season friendlies are for? We need the players to get together in almost match situations to see how they gel as a team. Exactly this. Ideally we'd want a PSF programme against lower L2 and higher NLS sides. This gives not only a chance for the management team to see how our side is best set up as close as possible to potential league opponents and also to judge trialists against appropriate opponents. However "glamourous" playing a PL side would be in a PSF, it really does nothing to prepare the team for the upcoming season. They are good for bringing in extra income, but as we can't use our own pitch, it would be pointless. Every team announced so far was either a NLS side this season, or will be in upcoming season. They're also all pretty close, and therefore travel costs (for the club and fans) will be minimal. So ironically, you could consider the current crop of PSF's as quite "ambitious" because it's actually much better preparation for the upcoming season that one would think.
