2 decent signings, but presumably the main signings are yet to come if a return to the EFL if what is desired.

Two good squad signings but as the previous message said the signings of first team players are need to be made if we are aiming to go straight back up especially as we’ve received the £650k parachute payment from the efl and as long as there are not going to be making anymore ground improvements after the new pitch has been layed then we should be making a few quality signings.

Ajiboye, A Smith and Rowe were all similar type signings and became some of our best players, As well as the likes of Goodliffe...
Hints of a new signing on Tuesday..

I think we might take it as a given that the desire, the intention and the aim is to go straight back up. Why wouldn't it be? No club thinks it better to sit in some kind of fingers-burned waiting room for a few seasons. Or to not really try too hard, for some odd reason.
But none of that alters the sheer difficulty of actually getting promoted up from the National, however good your signings. As we well know.

we should be making a few quality signings. The two we’ve made so far in De Silva and Odelusi are quality signings - I have no doubts both players would have had several suitors!

Indeed, and look what happened last season when the squad was said to be the "best-ever on paper". I, for one, won't be rushing to any judgements until the first seven or eight matches have been played.

A couple of bizarre comments when frankly people have no clue who will end up being our better players. What a way to welcome new players to the club. They could be stars passing through on their way to better things. Crawley were written off last season for picking up lower level/unheard of players or those not highly thought of by fans and look at how that turned out. It’s about building a team. Of course there will be more signings given the places we have to fill, it is only 1 June.
I do wonder what sort of ‘name’ will satisfy these people given we’re a National League club? Perhaps they can put some criteria on here so we can all be happy that we’ve recruited a ‘proper’ player?

Last season Smith Patrick and O'brien were our big signings but for various reasons they all were underwhelming. We are now in a lower pool. I will wait until end of August now. (Last season by then I was fearing the worse) I will just keep my fingers crossed we have a side competing at the top end of the table.

When Barrie Williams built his double title squad in the 1980s, at least four of our stand out players came from Chipstead. A top striker was identified from reserve team football. At least three ‘name players’, stars at their own clubs at our level, basically failed at Sutton.
Look what Coby Rowe, Ben Wyatt, Donovan Wilson and David Ajiboye achieved under Matt.
These new signings look exciting. I agree, let’s welcome them and look forward to what they can do.

I agree with “forum legend” that we do need at least need a couple of quality/experienced ex elf players that can guide us back to the elf and I also agree with the majority of the comments saying these latest additions are good additions but for them to reach there peak this will take time, ask any manager as we have seen from our players in the past. With the additions of at least a couple of quality experienced players they will help these new players that have played at lower level league football to take there game to a higher level. If the clubs intent is to go straight back up by purchasing only lower league players, then it will take a good few seasons to achieve that goal.

It is becoming increasingly obvious that OS has some clear issues with the football club with his veiled and some not so veiled criticism of it.
I note that his partner in the early stuff, JK, has vanished but a new poster, amberpatriach has cropped up. One in the same? It is obvious who JK is.
There appears to be an agenda here and that is fully exposed by his comment on the latest signing, who by the way, has been lauded on other platforms as being a fantastic addition to the playing staff.
OS should remember what Crawley achieved by signing so called lower level players including from Oxford City and Banbury.
Bearing in mind I haven't seen OS at a Sutton match in I don't know how long yet he is able to comment on every match, suggests he has access to a feed so he doesn't have to leave his armchair to watch. If so, probably a legacy of SUFC TV that I believe he set up.
Fair enough, although many of us have long standing volunteer CV's that we can fall back on. But we still physically attend week in week out.
Many of us also buy a season ticket even though we could probably justifiably still access the ground on match days without needing to.
I wonder if OS has bought a season ticket because if he hasn't, his current contribution to SUFC appears to be only what he posts on AP, if indeed that can be considered as such.

It just looks like we are going the same route as what has worked for us in the past.
Good up and coming none-league players, likely a few decent loan signings, and a few players with higher level experience which we already have..
I am fine with constructive criticism, which is healthy for a small club like this, but sometimes you do see a lot of over critical posts. Its before June and we have signed a couple young and very promising players ar this level, who will be Hungary fresh and will no doubt benefit from our proven record of getting the best out of such players.
The likelihood of us returning to League football will come down to management and how effectively they build and utilize a squad. There are going to be no golden big player signings who will do the job for us. We are not Wrexham or Notts County.
The methods used by us in the Nat League have seen us finish 3rd and finish as champions, within a 5 year period. While it would be great to bounce back up next season (not impossible), if we can repeat our first 5 years in the Nat league, I would be content. And with us, there will always be a risk of relegation at this level, so that will be the first thing to avoid before we look at anything else.

Jk is still here and I should hope you know who I am as I am not attempting to hide. Nope this new poster is not connected to me or Clive. I prefer to have very short usernames that normerly are my initials. Not sure why you need to jump on OS so much, he has reasons why he has not been there physically. But he has still been there more than some of the clubs owners. I have been busy living life and making money. I got a bit bored of the narrow view some of you display. And to be fair Mark. I must admit you disappoint me. Someone who knows this club and its history better than anyone and you still can not see it. It’s not about being spurned or anything silly like that as everyone has other things to be getting on with. It’s simply about wanting what is best for the club. The feeling of loyalty and guardianship never and should never leave any of us. I can not see anything that says we are serious about an efl bounce back in the signings. We are building a good squad , but a good one for the national league , which is one of the toughest leagues out there.

I was in the process of replying to this but lost it all when my phone temporarily died on me.
I ain't doing it all again, so you will have to remain disappointed in me. For the record, that disappointment is not something I will lose any sleep over.
