I’m guessing the FA already have the live games lined up, but need to wait for the replays tonight before announcing. The broadcasters decide, not the FA

As one of the three U's and Villa fans, I told the missus as the draw began I hope U's get Birmingham at GGL - when out it pops. Based on the Birmingham being the biggest club in the draw and U's exploits as Cup giant killers this surely has to be a TV pick. But the police will probably want a say in the k.o. time and segregation because the Noses have a reputation for causing trouble when not well stewarded.

Overall, a cracking draw because: a) Birmingham, by far, have the biggest crowds of any team at this stage of the competition and will guarantee to sell out however many tickets we give them b) They're the highest ranked team in the competition and this is the first time they've played in the first round of the FA Cup since 1995 (where of course we beat another Midlands team in the first round that year, Kidderminster Harriers c) Due to their size, status and the point above, it's as likely as it's been for years that we'll get a TV game d) We won't be giant-killed in this round - we could easily have got a side like Boreham Wood, got much less income from the game and gone out e) More often than not, high flying teams go out relatively early in the FA Cup as their clear priority is promotion, especially those who had been relegated the season before. As it's been nearly 30 years since Birmingham were at this level, that rings true even more. f) This is their managers first ever FA cup tie as a manager (and actually as a player too), whilst Morison has played in 13 FA Cup campaigns, and this is his 3rd as a manager. g) The majority of the pressure will be on the away side
It's less of a cracking draw because a) Our defence is leakier that a sieve at the moment. We've only managed to keep a clean sheet on 3 occasions out of 14 so far this season, and against a stronger opponent than one we would normally face we could ship a LOT of goals b) Our squad isn't hugely experienced (as we saw the last round) and could buckle under the pressure c) We're playing the highest ranked side in the competition Whatever the result (and I'm not suggesting it's so obviously a defeat we may as well not bother to turn up), this young squad can learn so much from the game and we could well see an upturn in our performance post tie.
In terms of TV games, last season 5 were broadcast in this round (3 on ITV stations and 2 on BBC) - if we go on last season, the matches were 8pm on the Friday, 6pm on the Saturday, and 12.30, 3pm and 6pm on the Sunday.

Agree with you and I would add that many of the negatives can really be downplayed. After all, if you take the view that our FA cup campaigns are there to generate income then this draw (assuming we get a Tv slot) will equal the income from a run to, say, round 3 because the TV cash will bring in as much in gate receipts and prize money that would be generated from another 2-3 further (non tv) games!

Will there be more games due to no replays and having live TV replay games?

I hear it's TNT at 6pm Saturday. I wouldn't read too much into that yet, I expect they've just listed the fixtures at the same time, which we know won't be the case.

What sort of display, and who are the amber project directors? , I thought the aim of the project was to encourage disadvantaged supporters, They must have made plans covering all aspects like security and crowd safety very quickly given the draw was only made this evening. I think you may be mixing a couple of things up here. The Amber Project is a group of fans who have taken the initiative to try and improve the atmosphere at GGL. The have done flag displays etc. The Amber Army 100 initiative intentions are to try and get new fans into football, not just disadvantaged supporters it is open to anyone who hasn't been to a game or who has been & felt uncomfortable. Neither would have made any plans over security or crowd safety.

For those at the back, no game kick off times have been announced yet. TNT say they're all at 6pm FWP and the BBC have them all at 3pm It's a placeholder. As soon as TV games are announced, the full fixture list of all games and time and dates will be published.

I wonder if any Birmingham supporters think they have a nice local fixture and are planning to walk to Coleshill Road 😀 (Does look really strange when you look them up and see Sutton United in green over the bar)
