Last time we visited Cressing Road, on a wet Tuesday night in November 2018, we came back from 2-0 down to snatch a point but saw our manager red-carded. We should be hoping for something a little better tomorrow.
Braintree don't score many goals, but their defensive record is better than ours. After losing 3-2 at Wealdstone this week they've dropped back to 21st. They are only 6 points behind us.

Squad will be stretched tomorrow. Missing two centre mids plus one out on loan, unless he can be recalled. Plus three defenders out and Jayden Harris.
Makes this match on a pitch that isn't always great, may have improved, a tough cookie.

Makes this match on a pitch that isn't always great, may have improved, a tough cookie. Four defenders out in total as per the preview on the official site but Muller and Ransom very close to being available: Team News
Jayden Harris and Finley Barbrook are both unavailable for the trip to Cressing Road due to suspension, with both midfielders picking up their fifth yellow card of the campaign against Gateshead.
As for those in the treatment room, Lewis Simper is set to remain on the sidelines for a few weeks after going off last weekend against Oldham Athletic, along with Ryan Jackson and Edwin Agbaje who both continue to recover from respective retina and hamstring injuries. Hayden Muller is nearing a return from a hamstring injury after over a month out of action, but alongside Harry Ransom, won’t be available for selection until after the FA Cup First Round against Birmingham next Sunday.

Sorry didn't include the on loan defender from Ipswich on the grounds that he has yet to be available.

5 bookings each for Harris and Barbrook plus Nadesan suspension already served as well as countless others and we are still only in October! That has got to be far too many hasn’t it? Not saying there haven’t been some ridiculous cards handed out but this can’t be helping us achieve any kind of squad stability which is proving difficult enough anyway. I suppose if there is any sort of positive (and I’m straw clutching) is that nobody ( for me anyway), perhaps with the exception of Louis Simper has as yet ,cemented their place in the starting line up, another chance for slightly sidelined players to make their mark possibly?! If we have any fit ones left that is ?!

Yellow and red cards seem to be the way the refs want to go. I think they want to turn the game into a game if chess with no contact.
I would say its going to be harder than hard. I would say we are in crisis. I imagine we will set out for a point and try and park the buss. Going to be a long game I think...

Whilst we’re stretched a little I’d be flabbergasted if we play for a draw. They’re all tough games at this level but if we aren’t all out looking to win against sides at the bottom when exactly would we be? Don’t think Morison will ever set out for just a point.

Excellent performance from the team with some players playing out of their normal positions. They all played their part with some really good football played at times.Defending was equally as good and a clean sheet well deserved.

Feeling a bit of relief with that one. We seem to be picking up more results away, who knows whether it suits us from our way of playing, it helps take the pressure off the young group or if just a random thing! But 3 points are never easy to pick up in this league. Hopefully we can back it up, tough little run coming up now. But first free hit next week.

An excellent performance against a tough physical opponent on a very tricky pitch.

Looks a decent win given the depleted resources - I’ll take a 1-0 win at Braintree any day. Kudos to the defence for the clean sheet (first one of those since the dour Yeovil draw) and another goal for Davies who’s now joint top scorer with Coley (5). Onto the mouthwatering cup tie next Sunday!

Like Wednesday the players played as well as they could today. They added far more resolve and togetherness and most importantly scored the first goal. The pitch was difficult and sapping . Braintree were not a patch on Oldham and Gateshead though. P.s it was only after the final whistle the goal became the only goal.

Maybe but 7 out of the 8 teams we've played away are in the bottom half of the table.

That was a professional performance, with a number of players demonstrating that they can adapt to playing out of their usual positions. Braintree, as you'd expect, showed effort and endeavour, but we looked a class above. The score may only have been 1-0, but there was no doubt that the better team won.
What we've seen over the last eight days is the gulf in the National League between efficient, full-time sides like Oldham and semi-pro grafters like Braintree. This Sutton team finds itself somewhere between those two poles.
