Badly missing a striker who gets himself in the right position to score goals. Should have been a lot more than 1-0. And if we got the penalty in the first 5 mins and Ross didn't pull off a cracking save in the 2nd from Coley, it would have been.

Thought Barbrook in midfield was excellent today and deserved his goal and hopefully man of the match, some lovely football in the first half, overall bossed the game, but we needed that 2nd goal

Maidenhead were poor for 90 minutes and we were good for 45, that was the difference. We will need to find a more complete performance to bring anything home from Halifax next week as the second half was not convincing. First home win since September though so hopefully builds some confidence.

Little do I know but Davies looks isolated up front to me but it's clear by now that's Steve preferred way of setting up the team. Hope he doesn't suffer from burnout/injury because he's a very important player for us.

I enjoyed the way we played today, deserved more than 1-0. Still too many careless passes.
One goal on the pitch but 640 off it, as Joycey was joined by Macca and Lennie (who celebrated his 60th birthday this week).

A win's a win! Only our 3rd home victory of the season, and we really should have won this game more comfortably, but sometimes you just accept the three points. We had a lot more of the ball than against Rochdale.
Our wide players Coley and Sivi were impressive today, Sivi having the beating of his man, only for his looping crosses to come to nothing. Then he tried a low cross, the ball being played back to Barbrook who drilled home for his first Sutton goal. 1-0.
Maidenhead had more possession after half-time, but we still shouldn't have been hanging on. One superb piece of skill saw the returning Jack Wadham flick the ball over a defender and run onto it and cross, only for Coley to see his point-blank effort saved by Craig Ross. Thankfully, we then saw the game out.

A deserved win, really should have been 2 or 3 ahead at the break, M/head better after the break but didn't threaten to much. The league is starting to take shape, and my tip FGR are now out in front and I expect them to pull away as the season progresses. Our position is about right, we have beaten most of the sides in the lower half but not so those above us (Alty aside).
The team is playing some good football but lacks that experienced defender or midfielder to help through the tough periods of matches (none today), and its really hard to say there is the player that will get us goals on a regular basis. Playoffs are quite possible but only if SM can bring in 2 or 3 players to add to the basic product, and for that he will need some money from the board.

Had a great first half and should have been 2 or 3 up. They pressed us well in the second half and it started to push us back a bit more and made us nervous as the half went on. But we still defended well and did not allow them any real chances while taking a deserved victory.
Decent home coming for Wadham, And good to see Finley step up when needed.
I think we are starting to see good development with the players who are getting used to being pro and getting more regular games.

Does anyone know what the (non-injury) stoppage was for near the Maidenhead fans?

A much needed win that, with a goal of the season contender and a more dominant performance. A bit frustrating as Steve said not to get one or two more goals, especially first half. Second half became nervy but held on and seeing the table, we are not a million miles off the play off’s. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

I believe, can't say for sure, that the assistant ref complained to the ref about abuse he was receiving from the visiting fans.
I saw on twitter what may have been an indication as to that abuse referencing an obvious physical part of his appearance.
May appear a bit soft to some but I think I read recently someone successfully taking an individual to court or a tribunal after a similar reference was made towards him.
I heard that five of the Maidenhead fans got turfed out. Obviously don't have the facts but that seems excessive. I would say that a few of their fans did appear rather wound up at times in that first half.
It happened after their penalty claim, it wasn't, but not sure why they had a go at the assistant for that as it was not his call.
You really can't say anything to some people these days. I have spent most of my life listening to derogatory remarks about my lack of height. But I like to think I have a little bit more about me than the assistant exhibited yesterday. The world we live in
Of course, there may have been a bit more to it than that but don't expect the club to comment on it.
One of my mates thought it odd that both a steward and the chief operating officer needed to walk across the pitch during the stoppage but that may have been at the behest of the ref.
As a foot note, I am not sure I have seen anyone chucked out of a Sutton match because a match official didn't like something said to him by someone in the crowd. Of course, if something had been thrown at him that's different.

Of course, if something had been thrown at him that's different. I remember previously in a little debate on this forum I half joked about people getting arrested for calling someone a big nose. And it would appear my assessment was not too far away. I believe Maidenhead fans called the Lino a Bald C**t. Personally I would like my Lino's to be a bit more street wise and with a firmer backbone while having quite a robust job to do in a game where fans and players can often get quite heated. If that's all it took to distract him then I would be suspicious he can cope with the pressures of a high intensity job. This is the problem with this stuff, it ends up being a big can of worms. I would expect a steward to have a pop at fans for abusive lingo if there is a kid around or something, But would expect a lino to be better prepared. At first I presumed someone had thrown something at him (Which would have been disgraceful behavior) But it turns out it was just insults from a few Muppets. Of course, if I am wrong and there was more to it, then I would be happy to apologize to the Lino..

The ground regulations state that " The use of threatening behaviour, foul or abusive language is strictly forbidden and will result in arrest and/or ejection from the Ground. The Club may impose a ban for one or more Matches." I've no problem with that Zero Tolerance policy - and it was clearly foul and abusive language (hence your asterisks replacing "un") - in this instance if what you say is true - just as I had no problem with the way in which the club's Zero Tolerance betting policy was followed a few years ago. I'll leave it to others to debate whether the situation might have been handled better in this instance if they wish as I've better things to do with my time.
