I remember previously in a little debate on this forum I half joked about people getting arrested for calling someone a big nose. And it would appear my assessment was not too far away. I believe Maidenhead fans called the Lino a Bald C**t. Personally I would like my Lino's to be a bit more street wise and with a firmer backbone while having quite a robust job to do in a game where fans and players can often get quite heated. If that's all it took to distract him then I would be suspicious he can cope with the pressures of a high intensity job. This is the problem with this stuff, it ends up being a big can of worms. I would expect a steward to have a pop at fans for abusive lingo if there is a kid around or something, But would expect a lino to be better prepared. At first I presumed someone had thrown something at him (Which would have been disgraceful behavior) But it turns out it was just insults from a few Muppets. Of course, if I am wrong and there was more to it, then I would be happy to apologize to the Lino.. The ground regulations state that " The use of threatening behaviour, foul or abusive language is strictly forbidden and will result in arrest and/or ejection from the Ground. The Club may impose a ban for one or more Matches." I've no problem with that Zero Tolerance policy - and it was clearly foul and abusive language (hence your asterisks replacing "un") - in this instance if what you say is true - just as I had no problem with the way in which the club's Zero Tolerance betting policy was followed a few years ago. I'll leave it to others to debate whether the situation might have been handled better in this instance if they wish as I've better things to do with my time. Perhaps my skin is too thick. I have been called all kids of names in the past and have not felt it was particularly abusive or threatening, depending on context of course. I am curious as to see what its like to experience this being offended thing, and what actually happens when you feel it... I presume the next time a Wembley final hears thousands of fans saying "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh You're s**t Ahhhh! They should stop the game and wait until thousands of fans are escorted out of the stadium? Don't get me wrong, I rarely use bad language, I just think there are worst things at sea...

I believe, can't say for sure, that the assistant ref complained to the ref about abuse he was receiving from the visiting fans. I saw on twitter what may have been an indication as to that abuse referencing an obvious physical part of his appearance. May appear a bit soft to some but I think I read recently someone successfully taking an individual to court or a tribunal after a similar reference was made towards him. I heard that five of the Maidenhead fans got turfed out. Obviously don't have the facts but that seems excessive. I would say that a few of their fans did appear rather wound up at times in that first half. It happened after their penalty claim, it wasn't, but not sure why they had a go at the assistant for that as it was not his call. You really can't say anything to some people these days. I have spent most of my life listening to derogatory remarks about my lack of height. But I like to think I have a little bit more about me than the assistant exhibited yesterday. The world we live in Of course, there may have been a bit more to it than that but don't expect the club to comment on it. One of my mates thought it odd that both a steward and the chief operating officer needed to walk across the pitch during the stoppage but that may have been at the behest of the ref. As a foot note, I am not sure I have seen anyone chucked out of a Sutton match because a match official didn't like something said to him by someone in the crowd. Of course, if something had been thrown at him that's different. Of course, if I am wrong and there was more to it, then I would be happy to apologize to the Lino.. You are wrong. I have his contact details so feel free to pop into my office to collect them and make that apology.

Although, when this stuff happens its probably better for details to come out so fans learn from it, as its often quite vague..

Does abusive language include something like "You're useless"? If so I'm often at risk of being kicked out. It's just stating facts! Or is it the use of a four letter word?

You literally are not stating facts, you are stating an opinion.

That isn't the same as shouting abuse about somebody's personal appearance using foul language.
But if you are merely stating a fact, does that mean you are qualified at doing the same job as the person you are shouting at?
