As in the match earlier this season, Hosham proved a good footballing side and I was impressed with their no 11.
Another slow first half performance but having said that U's were the first to test the 'keeper and from the resulting corner John Munday scored with a great header 15 mins into his debut.
Horsham deserved their equalser although it looked like a goal kick to me rather than the corner it was scored from.
Billy came off the bench to change the game before his forced departure. As for the challenge by the no 4, yes he got the ball but was stretching and as a result showed more of his studs than is normally legal and hence Billy's injury was a cut, thankfully no more as it looked as if it could have been an ankle injury.
As for the ref, it was back to normal with regards the cards and he did seem to give them a disroportionate amount of free-kicks for aerial challenges in the first half.
JM's card was a bloody joke. As they both got up after going for the ball they were in a tangle & the 'keeper grabbed hold of JM and he reacted but not to the extent that the Horsham player's reaction would have you believe and the ref if he was going to book JM should've booked the 'keeper too.
Another less than convincing refereeing performance, another under par 90 mins from U's but another 3 points. As I said after Tuesday's match this team keeps going even if not playing brilliantly and the results keep coming.
Well done to the Horsham fans for a good turn out and well played their team too but they did not have enough up front with Sigere apparently back at Lewes.
A host of away games now and this is where the test will really come.

The incident with the keeper was just an over the top pushing out the way. Deliberately forceful when it wasn't needed. I was expecting a booking each but there you go.

Another tense game, the side seem to get stronger the longer the game went on. As others have pointed out PD gets the best out of the side with his very good use of substitutions, for that reason PD was my man of the match BTW The group of middle aged drunken 'Sutton fans' behind the goal were a disgrace. The childish chanting and abusive language was disgusting.

The challenge on Dunn wasn't that bad, just one of those things. As someone else said he pushed it too far and had no chance of retrieving it.You can't possibly see that if you are standing behind the goal.

These days if a player shows his studs its a foul and sometimes a card, even red. Billy D certainly didn't get the cut off the ball did he? I don't think the guy meant to do it but as he was stretching he had less control of his attempt for the ball.

i accept foul looked worse from where i stood, but they were going to get him one way or another!
Also those fans - none of which i had seen or heard before - came out with some of the worst (as in pathetic) insults i have ever heard, and i work for council tax! Try harder, a bit more effort at WITTY banter eh? To those who missed it, my 4 year old daughter was so upset she rolled her eyes and shook her head. But at least their keyworkers got an afternoon to themselves......

I actually agree with Frakey its not all about getting the ball a tackle can still be dangerous and a bookable or even sending off offence. I don't think he should of gone but it was not a text book challenge especially with studs showing. Free kick and booking for me!

Billy and Gavin's intro changed the game as it did on Tuesday against Margate. I thought Horsham played some good football. A great result and the team should be full of confidence now. The challenge on Billy looked bad but I thought Steve Mckimm was lucky to stay on the pitch after his two footed tackle in the first half, it looked truly awful from where I was sitting, amazing that he didn't get a yellow. David Hughes was my MOM, his football is so simple but so effective.

David Hughes was my MOM, his football is so simple but so effective. Me too - I handed DH the bubbly at the end of the game! The last time I chose the MOTM was against Dover, and on that occasion I had the luxury of selecting from several excellent performances. Today was rather different. We were better than on Tuesday - but not by much! I thought Hughesie (as usual) put in a great box-to-box performance, which earned him the award. Credit too to Munday for scoring on his debut, to McCallum for setting up both our goals and to Dunn for excecuting a difficult finish.

I had not been for a while - what is the story with Billy?
1. Is he a youth product 2. Why didn't he start? He seems destined for higher class football

Oi! Cheeky sod. I have one more year before I can be classed as middle aged. BTW, can you lend us a fiver. I have a Porsche on order that needs paying for.... Tough game. Like tuesday, they started far the better. But we nicked ahead a bit out of the blue. They deffo deserved to be level at the break. Played some good stuff all afternoon on a scruffy pitch. Have to say though, the introduction of Dunn turned it our way. Still not 100% sure how he reached that one! As for the challenge, the no4 was just over reaching. Simple as. Dived in a tad rashly and caught his man. Yes, it was a foul. Although quite how the ref saw it as a fair tackle I'm not sure. But it was one of those where he certainly didn't intend to 'do' the opponent. Having said that, he certainly did his mates a favour as we slipped back into the pre-Billy lethargy from then on. Still, another three big points today, keeps the PO challenge going. And as for the Lardy Army. Funny. Sort of away support you kind of expect at this level. Pissed up, loud, stupid, but essentially completely harmless. Definitely the best bunch we've had at ours in a good while. Probably since Cambridge.
