All a bit tense, hasn't done my "recuperation" any good at all! If anyone was going to win it was going to be the U's. Hornchurch were set up for a draw from the off - always a risky strategy - and hardly created a chance. Can't see how anyone could say that the penalty was contentious, as the Hornchurch players and staff didn't contend it. Either they have steely discipline or saw what everyone else apart from Uncle Urchin (surely the most deranged serial poster in non-league football) did. I love the play-offs, it extends interest in dozen of games which would normally be nothing matches from January onwards. But it is a bit weird that we have a chance of promotion having won only 18 of 42 games!
Anyway, back to resting with my feet up for me. (til midweek).

Well done for making it TonyD! OS is just over the fecking moon I did not want to lose to them and UU can go stick his big fat beak right up where the sun don't shine! We were the better team from start to finish and played all the football rather than rolling around wasting time from the off. Danny's goal was class and the penalty was clear cut and in the end anything other than a U's win today would of been a travesty. I did not see the Penalty I just could not look so the footage is appreciated Paul. Its the 3pts they stole from us in November rightfully returned as I told their players in the tunnel which they did not like. I don't care what happens now on Tuesday just as long as we give it our best shot and turn Staines into GGL for the evening. We been through so much pain over the last few years that I forgot what this felt like, thanks Dos and each and every one of the players. PS: I JUST GOT ONE AIR HORN LEFT NOW

Wahay! Uncharted territory for Sutton as we qualify for the play-offs. The result was more important than the performance today. Danny Phillips took his debut goal for us very well, but the match could easily have finished as a useless draw. The penalty turned the tide back our way. We're very fortunate to have Steve Watts available at the sharp end of the season. Even if he can't give us 90 minutes, he's a great player to bring off the bench. He brings experience, aerial prowess, and a very cool head when it comes to taking a penalty. Paul Nicholls should be very grateful. He's made some fantastic saves this season - but also some costly errors. He made another one today for the equaliser which could easily have handed Hornchurch the play-off place. He now owes us a great performance on Tuesday.

We were excellent today, every player gave 100% for the full 95 (?) minutes. Thought AJ was outstanding, and Danny Phillips gives us that buzz in midfield that we've lacked for large chunks of the season. Took his goal really well too. Staines are different gravy to Hx, but play like Tuesday and we've got a REAL chance. Come On Yoooooooooooooou Yelloooooooooooows! ;D

Oh, have to comment on the ref and that gangly kid of a lino though. I've seen some sh*thouse officiating over the years but WTF? Goal kick when there keeper kicks it out, and contested drop ball just because an extra ball finds it's way onto the pinch? Utter dickheads. Still, didn't matter for a change today did it? Thank God! ;D

Excellent result today. Cannot say I enjoyed myself much during the game. Too nervous.
I want to mention the Hornchurch fans. I spoke to many and found them some of the nicest away fans we have had for a while. Loved the costumes. It will feel like a long journey back tonight but apart from the result hope they have had a good day.
As others have said. The smile is back on our faces. Wish all the team the very best for Tuesday

AA you are so far wide of the mark with the above comment it shames me. SUPPORT THE TEAM, they did us all proud today.

I think you'll find, Greek, that if PN doesn't have a great game on Tuesday we'll, er, lose the match.

I've just been thinking back to the 'meet the manager' before the start of this season. Dos's whole attitude was the difference between me buying and not buying a season ticket this year. Now i'm thinking it was the best 150 quid odd i'd spent all year. After 42 long, hard games, we've found ourselves JUST in the play offs. But at this point in time just is enough. Slates have been wiped clean, and there are 2 teams standing between us and an instant return to the Conference South.
As for today, not surprisingly a nervy affair. Overall 2-1 was a pretty fair result. The penalty was a clear penalty, and we were stupid with the goal we conceeded. Our first goal was well taken and well deserved.
At that final whistle, there was a feeling that had not been seen for a long long time. We fought today, we won today, and it was amazing. Just to be in with a shout after the disaster of last year shows what can happen. The players in the bar all got applause and congratulations when they came in and rightly so.
As for Hornchurch, they were not a bad side, and their No10 was one of the most dangerous attackers i've seen all year, but their fans were a real credit to their club - if I was a Hornchurch fan today, I would have been surprised if I could hold myself with the dignity they did. Their behaviour and attitude to the whole game, including the dressing up was fantastic, and its a shame that their reputation can be spoilt by that pillock Uncle Urchin and his braindead ways.
So now, onto Tuesday, and onto Staines away, who of course are feeling rightly confident. Anything now is a bonus for us, but there is still at least 90 minutes to upset the form guide. Remember this season out of the 6 matches played against the play off teams, we've lost one.
We know on our day we can beat the best teams in this division. We know when the pressure is REALLY on, we've performed and delivered the goods. One of the reasons we are 5th and not higher is because we went to places like Ramsgate and underestimated them. That will not happen on Tuesday. We know our enemy, we know what we have to do, players, supporters and management. We will go there, we will get behind our team, and if we perform the best we can, like today, like at home to Dover, like away to Carshalton, like at Hastings when being a man down, and like against Notts County, we can do it - no fear.
A huge and massive congratulations to Dos, Westy, Mckimm and the rest of the backroom team, and of course the players. We're there because we deserve to be there, and a massive personal thank you for giving me the best season for 10 years.

Wow. Just Wow!
Still haven't got my voice back from today and i'm still over the moon. I'd just like to make one thing clear to certain fans today who got very negative about the team today because they made a mistake.. the players know they've made the mistake so why do you think you should hurl abuse their way, we've got to get behind the team 100%.
Anyway i thought Sutton played some brilliant football at teams and it was a real joy to watch especially the build up to the first goal added with a brilliant finish from Mr. Phillips! 2nd Half started and we looked like we always do for the start of the second half very shaky and unfortunatly we conceded a goal from a mistake.
From then on i thought we played very well and the goal was always coming. I didn't really see the penalty decision, all i can say is it must of been if the ref gave it. Watts stepped up and took it and scored and i must admit i thought Behcet had saved it. We then defended very well for the time remaining and as soon as that whistle went i was first on the pitch to congratulate the boys for making this season one of my happiest ever being a Sutton supporter!
Onto Staines and it is now all or nothing, two of their goals apparently came from mistakes from Mullen the Margate keeper. Anyway its all about our performance now and we know we can do it so lets do it!
COME ON YOU U'SS

Here here Andy!
As for PN:
I think the game is very tough on keepers, I mean outfield players make mistakes in every game but for them it usually means the ball given away or running out of play etc. For a keeper even half a mistake usually results in a goal, look at how many Fabianski makes for Arsenal and you realise just how difficult a postion it is. I think PN has been a fine keeper for us this season who's mistakes are getting fewer and fewer, remember he is still very young for a goalie and if he did not make any he probably would not be with us??

For what it is worth, pen was definate! They should have gotten a straight red at the end for the 'challenge' on gav. Awesome support today, glad the balloons were enjoyed! As above whatever happens now, good season. People have the 'smile on their face' Fox, thank you for the balloons, Dos gave me £40 which I have passed on to the the Trust and they will give you a cheque for the full amount, thanks again. ps - regards to Max from AFCH, a true gent and good to catch up, all the best mate Perhaps Uncle Urchin could've used his time more effectively in deleting his post about us effing it up and cancelling the coaches that he had on standby rather than bemoaning a stone-wall penalty! FWIW- A fan from the neighbours was here today and he knew that the pen was nailed on - says it all.
