Kingstonian lost 5-0 at Dartford. Robins drew 3-3.

Yep lost !!! we were total crap the first half and didnt get going at all, Dos must of kicked off big time at the break because we started off miles better but they got a goal from a great finish, Linesman was a total plank as per normal with officals.
Bradley woods garnes came on early in the 2nd half with mckimm and then we brought on Anothony Joseph, fist half we seemed way off the pace, I was impressed with Canvey number 5 and also there strikers very quick with great movement and pace, Talking of pace it would be nice to start with some wingers i.e joseph seeing as were were going to play with pace this season, Bentley Graham was crap and subbed at half time, Need a big improvement even if we are thinking about getting in the playoffs but at the moment we need to start getting it together big time, I know its early on in the season but it would be good to get a run going like the likes of Dartford, carshalton etc but which we seem to struggle with

A very frustrating evening, first half we created some chances but were second best, losing the midfield again and looking all at sea from punts into our box. The marking or lack of it for the goal was terrible, just simply going for the ball often pays dividends sod the runners? Second half with Mckimm giving us the strength we lacked in midfield we totally bossed the half and the only thing Canvey created was the goal we really should of had 4 ourselves. The lino on the stand side was awful missing a clear trip on BWG and a blatant handball seen by just about everyone. Against AFCH we have to start with Mckimm and look to bring some more strength into our midfield, there is championship winning side trying to get out and if Dos can stiffen up that midfield we will be a force in this league. Canvey and Hendon are both decent sides at this level but we are capable of being much better, Carshalton may be unbeaten but have played no one really. More positives from tonight then negatives, we are a Dover / Staines in the making and I back Dos to finish the job

First half was pretty woeful, long punts up to the strikers and absolutely no rythmn or fluency in midfield.
The second half was a lot stronger, McKimm sat in front of the back four and gave the wide players more freedom to get forward. Phillips was also far more effective when moved into the middle, and - with a good assist from Matt Hann - scored a fantastic goal. To my mind it's a waste playing Phillips on the left. Having McKimm holding the midfield gave our attacking players the opportunity to get forward and support the strikers, which we sorely lacked first half.
Credit to Canvey, they dug deep to stay in the game and then hit us with a great winner - but we'll win far more games than we lose if we can play at that level for 90 minutes rather than 45.

Disappointing mainly for the following reason
a) Defence was poor tonight. We missed Kes b) First half midfield was too weak to cope with Canvey. c) We ran them ragged in the 2nd half, and they just couldn't cope with us d) I lost count of the number of chances we had
I'd say we conspired to lose this one, when this game was totally winnable. Not taking anything from Canvey, who had a very well marshalled defence and a good keeper. The first goal we gifted, and the second slightly less so.
I'm still confident we've got a good squad, and some players are emerging as nail on starters - Danny deserved his MoM tonight in particular. But we need to settle more at the start of games and tighten up at the back. Then defeats like tonight would not have happened.

This was a neat reversal of Saturday's result. I realise that Dos's options may have been limited tonight, but I thought the starting line-up wasn't right for this match. We know from last season how Canvey Island play. As well as giving them a clear height advantage, we lacked a holding midfielder. (We were without Sonny Cobbs who I assume was carrying a knock.) As a result we conceded too many free kicks in our own half, from one of which (as against Horsham last week) the opposition took the lead. Most of our own free kicks went straight to their keeper. Canvey were playing a high line, and Stefan Payne caused them problems with his pace and helped to create some openings for Sam Gargan - whose finishing, alas, was less accurate than it had been on Saturday.
I thought we were right to make the changes at half-time. Woods-Garness injected more pace into the attack, and Steve McKimm stiffened the midfield. That freed up Danny Phillips to express himself and he scored a wonderful equaliser. We then had our best spell of the game but couldn't find a second goal and our pressing forward meant that Canvey could threaten on the break. Their goal disallowed for offside was a warning we failed to heed. I thought it was a mistake to take off Gargan (still our most likely match winner?) and as if to prove the point Canvey scored their winner almost immediately after the substitution. We put in a lot of effort in the closing stages but couldn't get another breakthrough.
We've now slipped to mid-table, yet do have one point more than at this stage last season. But to maintain that edge we'll need to beat Hornchurch this Saturday.

Surely I wasn't the only one who heard the starting midfield of Phillips, Beaney, Graham and Hann and thought it sounded remarkably lightweight? It showed in the first half as we were swept aside by a rampant Canvey (and you won't hear that phrase too often of post-King CI). The half time subs of McKimm and BWG for Graham and Beaney totally reversed the balance of the game and we had 45 minutes of nearly continuous attack. A pity that in one of the minutes we were defending CI scored a cracker.
I didn't see the Hendon game, but the reports suggested we had to make similar adjustments to midfield then. Which begs the question, why didn't we start with a stronger midfield? 3 points lost to poor team selection I feel.

I agree that it was a reversal of the Hendon game and I'm sure we felt much like their supporters did when the final whistle blew. Two great second half goal. Unfortunately the wiinner came from CI.

So you obviously missed the 20/30 minutes in the second half prior to our equaliser where we literally raided the Canvey goal?

I saw the equalser.I left after their disallowed goal.A tenner to get in and 2.50 for the programme ?
I'd feel more comfortable getting mugged in the street...........................
PS......plus a pound for a seat in the stand with no leg room whatsoever.

It's just football in general mate,i'm fed up with it. I never thought it possible but i've had enough.
Not talking about last night but in general, the tactics employed by most teams are killing it for me.
When the keeper has it all 20 outfield players gather like a swarm of bees on one side of the centre circle. You could put George Best or Glenn Hoddle in there and what could they do ?
It's all about not losing instead of trying to win...........................
If i was a youngster now i would play right or left back - if you can't beat 'em join 'em.It's a thankless task running your bollocks off up front with no real support.

Some good points and some bad points last night. We look a lot pacier than last season. And we're certainly playing more football. But the midfield was just overrun 1st half and the marking (or rather lack of it) for the 1st goal was dreadful. Created a good few chances and scored a great goal, but disappointing we didn't press on and win the game from there. On another point, the new shirts are nice.
