Just reading through the Non league paper and i find it depressing that most teams in our division are reporting signings and all we ever get is a list of friendlies.Season ticket applications have just been sent out and all we know is we have lost two players at least. Not the most encouraging news if you are wavering about your renewal! I thought the days of we will see who turns up at the start of the season were past us but obviously not.I believe we need to be more proffesional about this.

Hang on DelBoy what you mean by more professional? Just because the club have not made announcements about new signings does not mean there are none. There are new players Haze has not been doing a JR, trust the guy and I am sure you will see some official announcements shortly??

Dont worry Delboy, spoke to Rodders this morning. Everything under control!!! The clubs with the most dosh, get the pick if you know what I mean, and the rest of the clubs join the merrygoround and see whats left. Dont worry IH will be raiding the piggbank before long.

Sorry can't accept that we can only afford a bottom three budget. Our support is certainly not bottom three.Anyway thats not the point. My point being that the club have not announced that any new players have put pen to paper whereas most others have. Comments like Ian would love the benefit of my wisdom and assistance won't help increase season ticket sales.

I can sort of see your point about season ticket sales Delboy. The problem is, a lot of players are touting themselves around a lot of different clubs at the moment - many of whom will solely be after increased pay packets. As we head closer to the pre-season, things will settle down and the players we're targetting will become more evident.
Players may already have agreed with IH to play for us next season, but I've got a feeling Hon Sec is on holiday at the moment which will have an impact on completing all the paperwork. Announcing a signing before that's all completed will just alert our rivals to the player's availability, and we could quite easily be gazumped (sp?)
Catch 22 situation though I guess

I think Hon Sec ought to give up his two weeks in Butlins in June and go there in February! I appreciate that Ian has made provisional agreements with some players but iv'e just read that Fisher have made their 14th signing of the summer. Saying we have a bottom three budget doesn't make any sense to me.

Fisher might have signed 14 players, but they did release their entire squad recently so their desperation is probably a bit greater than ours!!

Saying we have a bottom three budget doesn't make any sense to me. Because our playing budget is thought to be amongst the lowest three in the division in which we play, the correlation to crwod size and budget is nonsense as we've seen with the some of the recent 'boom and bust' clubs. What I consider to be our best signing last season came up two divisions for less money. Sorry, it's not rocket science and if people decide whether or not to buy a season ticket based on your logic and your statement that 'the club needs to be more professional about this' then it's up to them but with that lack of knowledge there's no telling.

What's the point in trying to sign everyone when they're all on holiday anyway?

Thats rubbish.Have you never heard of clubs increasing season ticket sales after new signings.
Hon Sec has been on record here as saying our budget is about average for this division.Yes we all know there are teams like Lewes who have good backers but that is the exception rather than the norm.As for being more proffesional i still believe we lag behind.

Are you saying the budget is not as low as is being said or are you saying it should be more? The facts are as stated, so rather then whinge about renewing your season ticket you may wish to put some money into the club so it can be raised?

I'd say we were about average budget wise when we came into this division 3 years ago, but now I'd say we're firmly bottom half.
TBH, signings at this level frankly don't sell Season Tickets. In fact, for us, I'd say retaining as many key players from the previous season is more likely to persuade ST holders to renew than one 'big' signing that we're never going to make anyway.

I'm saying its not as low as Millsy says.I'm not whinging about renewing my season ticket. We seem to be going away from my original point by accident or design. My point was that most other teams in our division have announced a signing or two.I find it depressing that all the press we announce is about pre season friendlies. Don't twist what i am saying.

Have you never heard of clubs increasing season ticket sales after new signings. Steve Claridge at Weymouth? Beckham at LA Galaxy? Of course, not exactly sure what you're getting at here though unless you've found a magical formula that the unprofessionals at SUFC haven't thought of, as I alluded to before. You've shown that you don't know what you're talking about but asking the questions certainly fuels debate so no harm done there but people spouting bollocks on here pisses off management, players, directors etc, they're all more than approachable, perhaps you should seek some enlightenment before slagging people and/or the club off on here. I can't see anyone twisting your words, it's on here in black and white, perhaps you should choose your words more carefully.
