Sorry,i thought this was a discussion board.Anyone who disagrees with Millsy is talking bollocks, pisses off the management and isn't enlightened. I'm sorry but sometimes they should listen to the rank and file supporters who pay their money every week.

It would be boring if we all agreed, don't be so precious. You suggested that what I said was 'rubbish' - Is that much difference to me criticising your bollocks!
If you can't guarantee liking all the answers you get then don't ask the question.

I don't really understand the problem, Hon Sec is away IH has been out and about looking for players. What makes you think we have not and are not signing players?

OS I'm not saying he hasn't or isn't.I was just disappointed that we have had no news after reading what other clubs are doing in the NLP

Er... EVERY other club in our league? Dorchester are going through big changes; of course they're going to be signing players (although they seem to be losing rather than gaining players at the moment). Ditto Hayes & Yeading and other clubs in new situations with management etc or have big budgets and a seriously good chance of promotion (because they can). I haven't heard an awful lot about Bognor for example, or Welling, or anyone of that ilk. Maybe the professional thing to do is actually not to cause speculation to spread about the players you're at the talking stage with or in the process of signing, but rather to wait until the deal is done and dusted. For all we know, we have a lot of new players in the pipeline but aren't announcing them yet, so as not to draw other clubs' attention before pen is put to paper. Maybe not, but my point is how do we think WE know what the club is doing and how professional its methods are, since they're doing the professional thing and keeping their business their business? Oh and Millsy, it's black and yellow

I believe that being proffesional is keeping supporters informed and interested.Obviously not specific information on individual players unless they have put pen to paper. It would be nice to read in the Sutton section of the NLP that IH is looking at a number of players. You and i know that he almost certainly is but it just keeps the interest going for any potential new supporters. No one here is seriously expecting a big money signing as we are well aware of the constraints.

No i don't take much interest in what Carshalton are doing.I don't think we shall be playing them on a regular basis for some time to come .Almost certainly AFC will be our main local derby in a season or two which hopefully will increase our income. You can't really see Hampton & Richmond bringing many over Xmas if the fixtures work that way.

Being professional is not publicising who you are chasing & letting every other bugger know (as Sallycat said) earlier. Delboy's comment about not indicating who, nullifies his own argument as he states that "you & I both know that he is certainly looking at a number of players". Therefore why do you need to read it in the NLP if you already know?

Mark Mainly for new or potential supporters.Keeping the interest going and making sure that Sutton United maintain a high profile. There must be hundreds of potential supporters in Sutton who don't even know we have a football team. Its only when we have a good cup run that the people of Sutton sit up and take notice. As they say all publicity is good publicity. My definition of being professional is not to let all and sundry know who we are chasing.I never for one moment suggested that.It was more of who have we signed already if anyone.? Keeping Sutton in the public eye.

There does seem to be a bit of a media blackout at the moment in terms of anything SUFC. You just have to look at the Guardian website - one article since 23rd May in the Sutton section.
I'm not sure who's fault that is, but perhaps the club could make people available for interviews on their views of how the summer is going? At least that would give us some sort of local media coverage over the summer months to remind people that we are still here!!
