Billy, often the scoreline doesn't reflect the game. Today was a perfect example. We beat Hendon 2-1 earlier in the season, and our performance was much worse than tonight. Sometimes the breaks don't go your way, coupled with bad reffing decisions. I'm sure you've watch many a game where the scoreline wasn't 'fair' Hundreds. Not many three nils though.

Let it be like a rare breed of tiger - beautiful, and dangerous and not often seen. I must be taking hints off the guy who writes Dartford's match reports

Yep was 0-3 but not mentioned yet was Stefans 'goal' disallowed for offside - when in my opinion should have stood (I'm not the ref or AR so my opinion matters little!) that would have made it 1-1.

I did mention it, it was a perfectly good goal as far as I am concerned and the lino made a mistake by putting his flag up to early.

Hi lads,
Felt the first half was as closely matched as we've been with anyone this season - looked like two top of the table contenders. Second half, we tried to put the pedal down and accelerate clear.
The referee didn't really have a clue with what to do with every little flashpoint. Instead of taking each one on its merits, he just booked everyone!!! Feel that your forward was lucky when challenging the keeper, and our 8 was probably lucky on reflection. Ref missed the biggest incident when your defended pulled back Haworth in the first half, when he was clear through and last man - red card at that point probably would have killed the match.
Don't think the scoreline was particularly fair - 2-0 would have been fairer.
Can't let a mention of your tea bar escape - I presume the burger I had was fresh... so fresh that they'd just killed the cow! I waited 25 minutes, and was tempted just to ask for my money back. Shame, because the burger was really nice when it turned up!!!
Good luck for the rest of the season.

I thought we shaded the first half and were certainly troubling the Dartford defence, which incidentaly was excellent all night. Wasn't too woried when Dartford scored as i believed we could come back at them and still win. However Billy Hawes own goal was a killer and the players heads visibly dropped and from then on in there was only going to be one winner.
As i said earlier this week Dartford are not as good as Dover were last season but with no one else in our league capable of catching them the title will be theirs to lose. I believe we are quite capable of taking second position into the play offs and now we must string together some wins in case another team starts improving.

For sure we've just watched the champions. Felt that whilst the first half was close they were just more clinical, stronger and defensively very good. Will be very difficult to beat and once ahead we never looked like getting back into it. They have decent support, are on a roll and are unlikely to be caught. We are now playing for the play offs and let's hope we can have another decent FA Cup run.
The offside decision was very tight on Stefan - could have gone either way, I was standing in line and unsure so can understand the decision. Definite red card for their midfielder which was missed - may have changed the game but we'll never know.

I was just about in line too. Stefan was clearly onside, but the lino flagged for someone else I think, (Matt Hann ?) who made no attempt to go for the ball as Stefan raced passed him. Years ago no quibble, it would have been offside but under the current interpretation Stefan received the ball, he was clearly onside when the ball was played and play should have been allowed to continue. Having said that, the referee blew instantly and their defence seemed to hesitate a little, so we will never know whether Stefan would have actually gone on to score or not. I also thought we played well, but their defence was rock solid, every time we looked like breaking through another blue shirt popped up. It might have been interesting if we had gone to 1-1 but 0-2 was game over.

we played well for 60 mins then they scored and we chased the game thought their back 4 were very good but to be fair Stefan Paine was very poor they just hiot the channals all night but were to strong in the tackle and won most of the 50/50 balls .As afootballing aspect i would rather watch us than them as we played some good stuff tonight in the first half . no doubt we will be in the play off places if we can play like tonight

Well I have slept on it and reflected, that was the defining 5 minute period of the game, their No8 kicking Sonny, Stefan's goal ( remember going to Fulham because he does not miss in that position ) ruled out followed by one of them OG's that happen to everyone once in a blue moon.
Dartford were unlucky to lose both against us last season, but they were more than paid back in that little period which changed the game which had been very tight up until then. They are the kind of events that go for you when you are on a roll and against if you are fighting relegation.
Having said that they were very strong at the back and we conceded our regular trade mark goal from a throw in and that was down to us.
I also agree with oldman I think he has it about right!

The general feeling on the Dartford message board is that we, especially in the first half, were the best team they have seen all season - more than Wealdstone who managed to draw with them.
With our first half performance yesterday, I can see their point, and as medibot stated earlier, we have no one to fear now....

We need to improve at both ends of the pitch. The passing is much improved from recent times, we just need to work out a way to create a few more chances.
When chasing the game yesterday we became a bit clueless (albeit as previously mentioned v a good defence). There was nobody to compete for the high balls we continued to aimlessly play once we were down a goal or two once Sam came off.
Signs are we are starting to shape up well - just need more concentration at the back and to be stronger defending set pieces.

Yes but is the whole of the ball over it?
