I was convinced at the time that the ball never crossed the line. Having seen that photo, I've changed my mind. We can all sleep easy now eh?
See you at Princes Park

I don't really think it matters that much if it was over and it looks it, the point being it was just one of those evenings if it had been us you can bet it would been 1 inch further out or not given by the lino. Not taking anything away from Dartford because there is no doubt about it they are a good side but I hope they understand it was a very frustrating evening for us as 2 or 3 50/50 things and decisions could of easily gone the other way and it could of been 1-1 with 30mins to play and Darts down to 10 men. But as they say that's football and I am sure they will see it as retribution for their defeats last season.

A great game until the second goal. Dartford are a good side, maybe not as good a footballing side as Dover were last season but still as effective.
I have to say I thought the ref and his assistants had a bad night at the coalface. As well struggling to maintain order at times - some of the players lacked restarnt too, though - he had no idea how to play the advantage rule. At least 3 times he hauled Sutton back to give us a free-kick even though they had developed play into a promising situation, yet played advantage when they were going into a cul-de-sac. Darts 8 had to go for his kick at Sonny Cobbs, there is no other punishment in the laws of football or at least according to the Law Book anyway!
On Sat, a couple of U's fans were remarking on a late flag by the lino. How we could have done with that last night when Stef got away, like the ref the lno was a tad trigger happy!
Can have no complaints about the result, even if the scoreline was bloody harsh on the U's endeavours. Play like they did for an hour against most sides in this league and the result will be beyond the oppo.

Obviously only the 2nd game I've seen this season but I've been pretty impressed by our performances in both games.
The first half on Tuesday looked like a top of the table clash and if we can put that sort of performance in week in, week out, we'll be well in with a chance of finishing 2nd.
Keep up the good work everyone, and see you some time before Christmas!!

Don't think Cody's still picture proves anything, but the YouTube video has a great angle with one frame (if you can manage to stop it at the right place) showing the ball just over the line. How the hell the lino can possibly have felt able to give anything is a mystery though - Scrivo's body is in his way, not to mention the other players.
Shame the video didn't show our disallowed goal.

Steve all refs must give the benifit of the doubt to the attackers, though of course the lino could have just left it up to the ref to decide the goal's status.

Not sure that's true, Beaney. Surely the ref has to be absolutely certain the ball is over the line before he can give a goal. Don't think it's the same as offside, for example, where I agree the doubt goes with the attacker.
I'm sure one of our qualified refs will be able to answer that.

From my experience the ref can't be in any doubt. My experience though is from 5-a-side. Oh and a couple of mates who are qualified.

One thing that is clear is that Stefans "two footed challenge on the keeper" was nothing but, and their number 2 was not restraining him, he was bloody holding him so their keeper can have a pop!
