..........i note that the points tally is exactly the same as last season. In my humble opinion this group of players are much better than last season but it's not really showing in the results.
Wouldn't the club be better off and a certainty for at least the play offs if they had a "bona fide" twenty plus a season goalscorer ?
Are there none about ? Last season the top ten scorers in this league didn't include any Sutton players,McCallum was just outside it.
Carshalton's Richard J olly was top (it says here) and apparently has been for three out of the last four seasons.Could he not do the trick ? Carshalton seem to be going backwards.

I think we may already have discovered one CT, he has scored 3 out of our last 4 goals plus scored on his debut at Bognor with a stunner. I tell you the boy is good so I fully understand why Dos has decided not to splash the cash for a while and Jolly is also Jolly expensive too.

I'm pretty sure we can't afford him, judging by the number i've heard bandied about over his wages, it seems he was even able to negotiate a 2 week holiday over christmas into his contract.

Billy, the manager has often commented on the website etc that he is trying to find exactly that; a twenty goals a season striker and in fact his pre-Carshalton match comments state that he thinks Charlie Taylor could be the man - CT then gets two goals, not a bad shout! If money were no object then of course we could perhaps go out and get any player that we wanted. There are probably several, several hundred reasons why some players wouldn't want to leave their current club or couldn't be tempted away. If you followed www.twitter.com/suttonunited you would have seen a 'tweet' on 22nd Dec linking to this article: www.thisislocallondon.co.uk/sport/4815976.Freeze_threatens_to_wreck_Sutton_s_festive_fun/?ref=rss in which the manager talks about the very same.

No worries, I was being a tad facetious and am boring people constantly about twitter so I didn't need much excuse to plug it again! In fairness to me, I had put a link to that story on here already although the emphasis was on the quality of journalism as opposed to anything else! suttonunited.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=2393&page=1BTW, Congrats so little time, especially since i became a Grandfather..

I will answer if I can but can't guarantee it! On the previous subject and nearly boring myself now, I have found something posted here on 4th Dec: Followers of our Twitter feed (or even casual viewers) will have seen a link to a news item about this in the Guardian, tweeted yesterday afternoon Quite handy actually as you can follow the Guardian and get items such as these into your 'feed' - especially as the Guardian circulation has dropped to about, erm, zero now! twitter.com/suttonunited - click on the link and you will see the relevant 'tweet' with its own link

OK thanks, but please don't shoot me down in flames as i have no knowledge whatsoever of the club's various sources of income.
However based on attendance/gate money alone surely Sutton must be the top earners in this league ? The Carshalton game by my calculations took the average to slightly over 600.
No other club is averaging 500 and only three others are averaging 400.Tooting and Carshalton,to name but two (as they are local) are way behind on attendances so surely way behind on takings ?

That is potentially a real can of worms but in general terms a club's income is made up of many other sources, a large amount of which may be sponsorship / transfers / cup runs / facilities hire / bar takings etc and sometimes philanthropic benefactors!
Our club accounts are available on the official site and the accounts of other clubs are generally available from companies house - I would imagine that on gate takings alone we would be 'up there' yes but on gross revenue and net income it would be incredibly difficult to say.

OK,thanks for taking the time to answer. i honestly think Billy Dunn could get the goals needed if played in his best position. He looked a bit disinterested when stuck out on the left wing in the games i saw.
Another bloke who impressed me was the player who got a couple at GGL for Epsom last year, was it Marvell ?
Anyway,thanks again.
