I've not been a particularly big fan of James Hawes so far, but I thought he did ok last night. His brother however had a shocker.
As for the long throws, I'm pretty sure the only time we've scored from one was the Paul Shave OG against Hornchurch at home.

I am not a fan of either Hawes tbh, but when it comes to goals from long throws, corners and even crosses we don't score them for the same reason we cannot defend them. We don't have the right players to do that job apart from JG, if we solve our defensive issue we will also score more headers too.

Yes, Francis Quarm. Nickname = Quarmo.[/quote Are you an Australian ? If not why not speak English...........] What a bizarre comment Billy. Giving someone a nickname doesn't make me Australian. And you might be surprised to learn that most Australians do have English as their first language. Not sure where you're going with that... Sorry, didn't mean to sound bizarre ! Is a nickname needed for someone after they've played for the club for about half an hour ? Apart from that i always associate sticking an "O" on the end of someone's name as an Australian trait.

I'd strongly advise them not to - unless they like hospital food.

Interestingly, my Dad's name is Bill. At school, his friends would call him Bilious, or Bilge. I wonder if you had a similar experience, and that's where your terror of nicknames comes from Billy?

I'd do one of them smiley faces to indicate i'm joking if i knew how. Anybody ? The thing that really terrifies me is the amount of people that talk in USA,West Indies and Australian .
Especially that irritating Aussie lilt.I think it's called AQI (Australian Quizzical Intonation)
I prefer to call it Moronic Inflection.....................

In fairness to Billy Hawes he was up against a real speed merchant last night albeit not the greatest of footballers but with pace to burn. However I have to say his long throw threat is non-existent. Other teams have much better throwers than him and they arrive at pace too. 3 down after 20 mins with the first 3 times the ball came into our 6 yard box WTF Pen before half time and then we gift them a 4th from an unchallenged header from a free kick after 47 mins. Over the 90 minutes we probably had 60% possession and many more chances (not half chances) than them. They took 4 of their 5 !! James Fraser was not impressive in mid-field. 3 subs at 4-1 down (Watts, Hann and Quarm) made a BIG difference but we kept squandering good chances and their keeper made 2 great saves whils ours made none. I have to say their GK's kicks from the floor were the worst I have seen for a long time whereas out of hand he could have cleared the far end!! We do miss Jason at CH as AJ was exposed last night, for the first time. Playing last Saturday may have helped Ashford but chasing a 3 zip deficit after 20 mins was difficult. Onwards and upwards? to Tonbridge Angels on Sat. I hope the game is on as we need match play. Where was Norwood last night?

'their keeper made 2 great saves whilst ours made none'.
I thought Scrivs [for Billy] made two blinding saves in the second half. One to stop another header and a one-handed save from a bullet shot ~ or was I dreaming ?

There was a free header from a corner, the ball came through a few players but it was a save Scriv would expect to make. Is the bullet shot the effort in injury time ? I thought the player simply found a way to hit the bar with the goal at his mercy.

Turned one round the post late on with with a decent hit heading for top corner. Quality save. Wasn't called into action until late on and everyone was being chucked forward.
Also thought their keeper made quite a few more decent saves than that!

He was still one of the worst goalkeeping dead ball kickers I have seen.
