Giraffes are definitely the right colour to represent Sutton United. And they're quite hard too - not in an obvious way, but if one decided to smack you in the plums, I bet you'd know about it.

Apparently a giraffe can decapitate a lion with one kick. I'm not sure whether that's true or a, er, rural myth. didn't someone bring a giraffe* along to matches a while back? * Just to be clear it was a soft toy not an actual giraffe. Yeah, but I stopped bringing her after the 2nd time she got kidnapped by oppo fans However, on the plus side I have been saying for YEARS that we ought to have a giraffe mascot, and it seems that somebody is finally listening to me

Having stood about two foot in front of a giraffe in Zambia (ooh get me) I can believe the decaptiation thing. I bet Andy's just sorry we don't have our own version of the Boro Bug.

It's a shame that giraffes are no longer native to Gambia - that'd be perfect. Perhaps we could get involved in a conservation project to try and re-introduce giraffes to their natural habitat, such as the Gambian plains and Sutton town centre.

Great idea.
I still miss the inspirational sight of giraffes strolling down the High Street, sticking their heads into the second floor windows and getting lost in the old Allders buildings (some claimed this was the inspiration for a Mr Bean episode).
Halcyon days.

Did anyone see Tony & Sylvia Holland there yesterday ? I'm not saying they were in the costume but hey, as they say in US sitcoms, "you do the math"...........
