I make it we're now only two points behind Hastings and Boreham with two games in hand over both. Heh! Great result!

Could not make the game today but well done ! Only result I saw was the local 0-0 and T&M lost at home at our friends Hendon.

Results did go our way - the best of the 3 teams above us was a single point for Hastings - Both Ks and Borehamwood lost.
Below us the sudden appearance of Harrow (who were 12th before today and now lie in 7th, 3 points behind us) shows how close it is. And our friends at Imperial Fields got done at home by Hendon, where Mad Dog Hartburn got sent off for the 2nd game on the trot! Places 6-12 in the division are seperated by 1 point now.
As for us today, a good battling performance in quite a phyiscal game against a decent side. When Ashford played us a month ago, we gave the game away, but today was much more of a level game, which we shaded. There were some squeaky bum moments near the end where both teams were getting quite tired, but having Goodliffe back in the centre had a great effect of tightening up.
Mom close again today - Quarm and AJ both played blinders, but for me it was Sonny Cobbs, who really fought hard in the midfield.
A hard fought and very important 3 points. Well done to Dos, Payne and all the team

Below is a fair report from a Ashford fan:
Considering the conditions and heavy pitch, well done to both teams for playing entertaining football. Never heard of a referee helping to fork the pitch before a game - well done, sir!
Sutton probably shaded the match, but we gave them a good game and were unlucky not to equalise at the end. I didn't see the handball which could have given us a penalty, but I thought we were very lucky not to concede a penalty and go down to ten men after half an hour for a last-ditch foul on a Sutton forward in the box.
Plenty of good performances, but I thought Femi and Jermaine were our best players, particularly in the first half. Surprised we switched off for Sutton's goal - did everyone think there was an offside and stop playing thinking we'd get a free kick?
Nothing to really get upset about by losing today - Sutton were a tall, strong side who were easy to watch, and they'll be there or therebaouts at the end of the season. I thought their 4 and 5 were superb.

This won't be remembered as one of our more spectacular wins of the season, but it could turn out to be one of the most important. We've given ourselves some breathing space in the table, and have now put together a nice little run in the league of four wins and two draws since Ashford turned us over at GGL last month. We've now made up the ground we lost in the early part of the winter.
All four of the matches we've played in February have been against promotion contenders (including the champions elect), with three of those away from home, so to have taken eight points from them is pretty good going.
I agree with the Ashford fan that both teams played some decent football despite the heavy pitch. And I agree with Andy that Sonny Cobbs had one of his best games in a Sutton shirt. We did ease off a bit in the last twenty minutes, and had a slice of luck with Ashford twice hitting the woodwork. Perhaps that made up for Sam's shot coming back off the post at Tooting last Saturday.
A win against Boreham Wood on Tuesday would take us above them. I hope the players are up for the challenge!

What a corking three points - amazingly a draw would've seen us drop to 11th and a defeat would've seen us down to 12th! You sure about that Millsy? It would have left us on 42 points, and erm 5th!

A very tough fought victory against a tough Ashford side, never a classic but we did what good sides do and that's get the result. I thought we were a little deep at times letting them have the ball in midfield but in the end despite that scare near the end we defended really well. AJ was my MOTM for just being everywhere at the back with FQ and JG having good games too. Their No7 got away with murder all afternoon while our bookings seemed rather soft, was it a Pen in the first half? Taz tells me the guy slipped but there were a few worried looks from the Ashford players and supporters?
Steve Watts took his goal well from a fairly tight angle after shimmying the keeper and all in all with other results going our way a big 3pts for us.
I did not think the ref was that bad although Sam's booking was very harsh but the lino stand side was a complete mupet which could not have helped the ref.

Good 3 points today, great finish by Steve Watts & a master class at the back from the returning skipper.
I thought we sgaded it today. No penalty for me in the first half as our guy - was it Sam - appeard to slip.
Well done to Ashford for getting the game on.
Ref did ok for much of the game but 4 bookings? Sam Gargan very unlucky & Cobbsy got his for dissent because of it. Their 7 meanwhile doesn't get a card until his fourth foul! I think the inconsistent use of cards by refs in the Ryman this season is one of my main gripes. Today was physical but for the most part played in the right spirit & the ref's use of cards was very poor. Still, if he helped fork the pitch before hand he deserves some credit.

Delighted with today's result and with the way we "toughed out" a deserved win.
Could well be a crucial three points come the end of April.
Jason G's return was very welcome - everyone worked extremely hard to secure the victory. For me Sonny Cobbs shaded the MOM award through sheer graft and energy.
I'm sure our management team will derive much satisfaction from a hard earned 1-0 away win at a difficult place like that. Well done guys.
1 defeat in 12 now - should be a very exciting two months.
On to Boreham Wood - let's keep the bandwagon rolling.
