2-1 win for the 'gate. Utterly irrelevant to our league position but amusing all the same!
201 That's shocking!

Although utterly irrelevant, it is now mathematically impossible for us to be relegated - which also means that Carshalton can't finish above us either!!!!

I also walked past the bobbins gaff just before kick off (i'd been in the Hope) and I've never been less interested in seeing a game of football in my life. Although they are 1-0 down to Margate so that might have been amusing. Bobbins 1-1 now. With a goalscorer named 'Lampton'. Hmmmm. Couldn't be NJ could it? Sorry guys but who is NJ?

2-1 to Margate now. That trap door is opening up nicely... Just been alerted to this, interesting comments but news to me! www.isthmian.co.uk/leagues?league_news_item&id=2563254&lid=256&did=2102" Saunders lifts Margate out of bottom four 21:58 30 Mar 10 MARGATE moved out of the bottom four in the Premier Division with a 2-1 victory at Carshalton on Tuesday. It was the only one of eight scheduled matches in the division to go ahead after torrential rain during the day.
Two of their recent signings from Maidstone, James Pinnock and Jay Saunders, did the business for the Kent side. Pinnock put them ahead on the half-hour and, after Neil Lampton's equaliser moments before half-time, Jay Saunders got on the end of a free-kick to score the winner after 70 minutes.
It was a crucial contribution from a player who was the first man brought in by new manager Iain O'Connell. His goal not only lifted his side to 18th in the table but pushed Carshalton down from 19th to 20th, an important difference if. as expected, only three clubs go down instead of the usual four."

Reprieves from clubs going bust. I know Chester account for one. Farsley Celtic ya another one.
I'm sure somebody will have worked out how it all cascades down the pyramid!

This makes a mockery of the pyramid system. Teams in the relegation places, as specified at the start of the season, should be relegated. Teams who crash out via admin or folding should restart (if they can) at step 7. Teams who finish in the promotion places,as specified at the start of the season, should be promoted. Either automatically or through the playoffs. The gaps above could be filled by the next successful clubs in the divisions below (steps 1 to 7). I know that this may be difficult to work out who they are but at least teams like Carshalton or Lewes do not get second chances - again. Also ambitious clubs (living within their means of course), further down the pyramid, can get a fairer crack of the whip. Any brainboxes out there who can come up with a fair solution?

Easy. You set it in stone that the next best side goes up. So at our level for example you would take all the play-off final losers from the Ryman, Southern and Unibond and use a pre-agreed way to compare their records, the side with the best record gets the promotion spot.
It would be easier if the Unibond had 22 teams like the Ryman and the Southern league but if it's agreed before a ball is kicked then there is no issue.

Yeah your big mistake there is you're using sound logic... something the FA lacks.

I knew I could count on a Uni Grad to solve it. However that would be too easy for the RL to comprehend.

This thread hasn't got much to do with Billericay any more. I'll try to kick off another one on the general subject of close season ups and downs.
