...today has guys on there suggesting we have splashed the cash by signing Mr Jolly. The K's fan in particular makes me laugh considering their recent past.
FFS, this is SUFC, no way would the board jeopardise the club's future on one player. (Would you Bruce?)
I have followed, from afar, RJ's career since he was a prolific scorer as a youngster for Hayes Surburban side in the late 90's.
He realy should be a tremendous signing for U's - let's hope he keeps his record going in front of goal in a Sutton shirt. No pressure!

Yeah, so he was a teenage scoring sensation! Must have been 01/02 season, when Hayes won the SL scoring 102 goals. I'll have an indepth look when I can be arsed.

As I said after our PO defeat Frakey, we're much adored in Isthmian circles.
Not.

As I said after our PO defeat Frakey, we're much adored in Isthmian circles. Not. And we know exactly why that is. Not because of Dos, or us being idiots or anything like that. Its jealousy. Nothing else. A well run club, with a decent ground and a fantastic history. Plus the fact that we've already shown for the last 2 years that we have been up there and there abouts. I'm quite happy to be disliked thanks

On another side issue. Did anyone catch the start of Morecambe v D&R last night? It was stated that the last time Morecambe scored 6 at home was 11 years ago. Sounds pretty close to the U's walloping in the 1999-2000 season They also mentioned Jon Nurse and his non-league background together with the Charlton v Swindon game earlier in the week. I was expecting somebody to know that the Charlton captain played with JN for Sutton. Then I remembered I was watching SKY !!

Andy, it's not jealousy, it's something else. It's hard to explain, but let me put it this way.....
I've always likened the Isthmian to a small country village. The sort where everyone is born, lives & dies there & the outside world is viewed with thinly veiled suspicion (you know the sort. "Ah've lived 'ere 75 years. Never needed to go to that silly ol' town!). Occasionally, a resident gets 'ideas above their station' and moves to the big city (Us, Wealdstone, K's) and when they return at some point in the future, they're viewed as thinking they're too good for the village\looking down your nose at the locals now because you might comment on the post office still closing half day on Wednesdays being a bit 'old fashioned' and such like.
If it's not that, it's because we got a lucky offside winner in an Amateur Cup tie against 'em in 1743 and they're not quite over it yet.
I f*cking hate it with a passion.
Filbert, I remember that 6-2 humping we got up there. Would have been 16-2 had it not been for Gareth Howells. How the feck we got back to 2-2 as well I'll never know!

Actually, personally speaking, I quite like Sutton. Except for the losing to you every time we play - difference with your mob is you usually win (or lose) with good grace, something that a lot of other clubs haven't learnt to do.
The only thing that gets me is when people start talking about how 'jealous' everyone else in the league is - it's a kind of arrogance that I tend to associate with others like a vocal minority of AFC Wimbledon fans, or pretty much any club that's actually loaded (Grays/Hornchurch/Fisher), not you lot.
Best thing to do is just ignore any conjecture about budgets, particularly as the facts are published in black and white on your website in the accounts. While you're at it, just remember that the best part of half a dozen clubs vocally claim to have the lowest budget in the league by some distance. They can't all be right!

When we were outplayed for 30 mins and then got back to 2-2 I thought we might get a point. How wrong was that? The next half hour was them against Howells. If I remember there was a car wash down one side which was more interesting than our defending. BTW your analogy regarding the Isthmian League and a country village is very apt. A bit like Midsomer without the murders or Inspector Barnaby (day time TV) ;D

I mainly remember tge Morcambe trip for Chalmers flapping at the woman in the tea hut when she went to put gravy on his pie. Funniest thing was I was stood about 30 yards away on the terrace and could see him going into one and just knew exactly why!
I was still crying when he got back to us, muttering about "f*cking northerners and their gravy". ;D

That Morecambe pie is still the best football pie I've ever had. Massive, too. And tasted home-made. It almost made the 285 mile journey and 6-2 walloping worth it ;D Oh. I've just been bullied into saying reliably informed that you absolutely cannot get a decent pie at a football ground south of Hadrian's Wall

I find all this rather ironic to say the least. Especially Taz's comment as you can take that to apply to Wimbledon as well as the three examples given
And, need I point out, that many of you regarded us as arrogant, a view it appears that many of your peers now apply to you.
So if you're prepared to dish it out, you have to take it in the same way. At the end of the day, it's all tosh of course, but please see the irony
