Strange game at Marine as they were winning 5-0 at half time but Stocksbridge scored 4 in the 2nd half!

Wow, gave us a scare. Becomes a top start for us. Let's hope we can roll with the good form. These 6 points from 6 is a great effort.

I think 16 from 18 is a great effort! Let's keep it up.

True, I meant the last 2 games in particular though as I expect both sides to be high up come end of season. Did I see Hendon winning? Are they a surprise 2nd place now?

Hastings had a last minute equaliser ruled out too (according to our official website).

Just got back, not going to go into much detail because I had a bit to drink but basically, we subbed off Jolly at 3-0 thinking the game was won and played right into Hastings hands by playing with only Watts up front and thus giving them time and space to exert the pressure that got them back into the game.
We got away with it though and I'm sure we won't make such a poor tactical error again.
That said, a great effort from the lads with three lovely finishes and I appreciate the obvious tiredness late on as no doubt most players had to start work early & leave early to make the game and this obviously had an unavoidable impact on Hastings late revival but I am still baffled as to why we removed a threat and changed shape in such a negative way.
Top of the league, and we all nearly had a heart attack!

Just back too and good luck to the match report writer 3-0 up against a very physically strong Hastings side, a few occasions looked although they might get out of hand with hand bags thrown. On 70mins we had the game in total control and I agree with Medibot we very nearly through it away in the last 20mins, Hastings exploited the width when we went narrower and Watts on his own up front handed the initiative to Hastings who just slung everything at us. What no one has mentioned yet is that only an offside decision with the last kick of the game stopped a 3-3 final score, 96mins on the clock heart in month and Hastings pitch invasion only for it to be chalked out THEW! A bit of a punch up in the crowed too with one drunken Hastings fan deciding to have a go, stewards useless could have turned very ugly. WE ARE TOP AND THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS, WELL DONE FOR THE BOYS HANGING IN THERE AT THE END

Wow!
After an hour or so, 3-0 up and probably playing the best football this season in my opinion.
Half an hour later and hearts were in mouths as the Hastings goal went in but mass relief when the linesman ruled it out (don't you just love linesmen sometimes!).
Six games in and still top with no defeats. The substitutions may have changed things but there were some tired looking players out there (plus Dundas was enforced due to injury). The most important thing was that all eleven left out there really dug in at the end against a Hastings side who really thought they were going to get something from the game.
Not too sure that many teams will find it too easy against them at their place.
FA cup on Saturday and then a week off which should give some of the lads a bit of time to rest up before Harrow at home which I will miss due to holiday. Just hope that I can still access twitter from overseas on that evening.

Great game and a great result for us! Although we conceded for the first time this season, getting three points was more important than extending the defensive shut-out. We did what we failed to manage in some recent matches and converted a high percentage of our chances. The three goal lead then cushioned us from the Hastings fightback. We'll fall a game behind on Saturday week, but with a three point lead at the top we can afford to relax.

Blimey, a bit of an evening that.
Three up and in total control, we changed our shape and defending the bottom of the slope the home side went for it. Their substitutions appeared to work, while ours didn't! Losing Dundo was a blow but almost immediately after his departure, a great move was finished in style by Tom Davis. An excellent goal. I missed the second as my bladder let me down but I've seen it on Paul's brilliant camera (thanks Paul). Excellent work by Fola and an instinctive piece of finishing my Jolls.
Brad then profited from a defensive cock up to what appeared at the time to sow the game up. Hastings though, went for it and but for the lino's flag would have achieved a tremendous come back.
As well as Dundo (out for 2 weeks apparently), Davis and Fola also took knocks. Some great performances all over the park again but I was highly impressed with Jason G at the back tonight. Tom Davis was also excellent.
Unfortunately, the end of the game was soured by the actions of two locals who appeared to be the worse for drink. They were not provoked at all. I have to thank the one steward who stood between me and the guy who was going to "break my back". He was excellent in a difficult situation and so OS, your comment about their stewards is inaccurate.
It really highlights the issue of allowing people to drink while watching the game. It only takes a couple of irresponsible blokes to cause a problem.
Some of their other fans were out of order at the end, abusing our players as they walked out of the ground. I think it was the ref & lino who made the decisions tonight, not the U's players.
A great win, a great game of football and a 100% record in three trips to The Pilot Field.
