I would imagine that Jols did have some say in the matter!

I'm surprised Jolly was on a contract. Why?

In the current climate of information being at our fingertips maybe we expect too much. Just because Jols tweeted before its gone up on the official site shouldn't be seen as a negative. Remember all those involved in dealing with the official site don't get paid for this, and they do it outside of their regular job. As someone who DOES get paid to update and manage an official website with a big reach, and I'm very aware that the no1 sin is to announce anything on there without it being certain first. Even when the website has announced things that are official, other interested parties may not understand (remember the hoo har with Sam Page at the start of the season) We could of course just go back to the early 90s and use the 60p a min Clubcall Back to the matter in hand, I am hoping that Jols has the 'Can be recalled at any time' and 'Can't play against own club' clauses in the contract. Also he has had poor luck/run of form recently, something that won't be helped by starting on the bench. If he starts rregularly at Wealdstone and starts knocking them in, it could have the combined effect of getting a goalscoring machine back to us, and inflicting some damage on our neighbours, so don't look at it as a negative thing. Remember Bradley spent a lot of last season on loan, and look how he is when he's come back to us.

On the Wealdstone official web site it states that they have Richard Jolly on a months loan, AND an experienced Conf. South striker Keiran Knight from Maidenhead.!! Goals galore now!!!

Of course, if he does start scoring at Wealdstone (and I hope he does), it will raise questions about why he couldn't do it at Sutton. Ask our midfield. They've given him virtually f*ck all of any real quality to work with for the last 2 months IMO.

I'm surprised Jolly was on a contract. Why? I assumed older players would noncontract. Putting players on contract is a financial risk- more so if they are well paid. They also have little sell on value. The opposite would be true with a young player that’s making good progress within the club.

Couple of points:
1. Jolly is not old. 2. I think the supply is as much a problem with the defence as the midfield, though I do agree that the midfield have got to demand the ball off the defenders rather than just watch them launch it long and without quality as has recently been the case (Kavanagh did this for a little while when he came on in the last home match).

Hmm, what's Norwood up to? Norwood is on loan to his home town club Eastbourne. Jolls has been playing very wide with us, we not really seen him much down the middle. It was his pass to Fola last Saturday which should have won the game, I wonder what would have happened if Jolly and Fola were the other way around?

PD has provided another honest update on the preview for Bury and you will find it hard to argue with any of his points.

Rumour on K's board and I stress it is only a random rumour that Paul Vines could be on his way here.

Dos seems as usual to be as honest as ever and if anybody was concerned about any apparent delays in releasing info, I think he nailed it on the main website.
Was pleased to hear him say regarding Andy Forbes "I am delighted to confirm that Andy is now with us on a permanent basis. Andy is enjoying it here and wanted to join so, again, everyone is happy. "
That is good news and the hint of another loan signing could be positive.
Let's hope for a good performance tomorrow and a decent run out for Alan Bray in the reserves next week (will be good to have him back too)

I hope we can get in another striker during Jolly's loan spell.
As to RJ's scoring record, he netted six league goals before the end of October, which is a decent output. His failure to score since then may be down to two factors.
1. The arrival of Andy Forbes, who appears to be Dos's first-choice forward (bearing in mind that Dundo can play up front or in midfield). This has meant Jolly having less playing time in which to score. It may also have affected his confidence (though I wouldn't expect him to admit that).
2. The injury to Fola and his subsequent battle to regain form. The idea was that he would supply the crosses for Jols, but recently there haven't been many of those (and we know that our other winger would rather shoot than cross - though no complaints there!). I agree that the service from central midfield has also been lacking. Encouragingly, Fola does now seem to be on his way back.

According to Jollys twitter account he's looking forward to coming back after the loan.
Personally I think this will do him the world of good, and he'll come back and score the goals that will help us win the league. And it's a happy coincidence that the stones are playing some of our title rivals this month.............
Oh, and Forbes signing permantly is great news. Really chuffed about that.
As for the complaints about a lack of update, I mean it's not like the webmaster is a volunteer giving up his precious time for the club or anything..........To many people on the forum seem to moan about the work of volunteers on this forum. (See the tiresome dugouts thread from the summer).

Have to chuck my 3p worth in here, albeit late in the day, with regards to the moan about the lateness of the info. Considering it came from a former volunteer, I find the comment astounding.
Over God knows how many years SUFC, like so many clubs at this level, has existed thanks to people doing various jobs across the football club. To expect news on tap is just plain ridiculous. As someone else has commented, people do have lives away from SUFC. Well, most of us anyway.
Thankfully, Dos has explained all & I hope that has satisfied everybody.
