Fair does frakey - I just got the impression that their no4 was 'dirty' because actually he wasn't very good, rather than going out to be dirty. You certainly know more about reffing and reading a game in that way than I ever could - I didn't see the sending off, all I saw was Scrivs on the floor.

....Certainly their No4 getting booked in the first half for a coming together with Tom Davis' head wasn't a sending off, and other poorer refs would have given it so..... Really? From my angle, the No 4 appeared to stamp on Tom Davis' head deliberately and I was writing 'red card' on a tweet in preparation when the ref decided on a yellow!

Hendon do seem to have added an attritional edge to their game and it was easy to see why they've picked up so many red cards lately. But I thought overall they were a rather poor side, and this turned out to be a routine victory for Sutton. Jolly might have had a hat-trick but his one well-taken goal (our second) pretty much put the game beyond Hendon's reach.
Lowestoft's surprise home defeat was great news for us, and it would require strong finishes from them and Bury Town for both to get beyond the 80 point mark. I've said all along that 90 points should be our target, but I now think that Dos's target of 84 will almost certainly be enough for the title.

Can't comment on Casey (no 4)'s challenge as Page was between me and that, although it seemed a revenge one following what had happened 30 second earlier, so it's certainly plausible that it could have been worth red. Aaron (no 9) should have certainly gone in the first half, although judging by his season so far I'd suggest that it was poorly judged rather than malicious (looked from the far end like he'd have remained in possession if he'd stayed on his feet). As for the one on Scriven, it was a foul, but no way worth yellow to my mind, even if it was in some ways justice for staying on earlier - barely any contact, controlled (on the floor and not lunging) and (I think, although happy to stand corrected) his first since the first half yellow.
Other than those though, there wasn't anything much I'd call 'dirty', rather slightly cynical/niggly fouling (little needless pushes) and/or slightly late challenges. Not that that makes it any better. It was horrible watching both sides rushing up to the referee at every opportunity to voice their opinions and I don't really envy him with having had to referee today.
Obviously a well deserved win for Sutton - Jolly's goal was a definite highlight - and no complaints about the margin of victory, even if we could have dealt with the first and third better, there were other opportunities and Nick Morgan was forced into a number of saves while we didn't actually test Scriven - the only effort on target was offside. We're very much a side bereft of confidence at the moment and... well... you've seen how that seems to have manifest itself.
Good luck with the promotion drive - I've had my money on you since July!

3 goals. 3 points. Job done. Once we went ahead, we were never really in trouble.
I agree whilst we're not mathematically there, I think realistically Bury are our only real threat now. Most of the sides chasing are looking at dropping no more than 3pts from now until the end of the season to try & beat us to the line. Statistically, no one even looks remotely likely to do that. So I think we can probably write off Lowestoft.
The game at home to Bury is going to be the decider.

That Andy K was obviously watching summat else. Their 4 wasn't carded for the clash of heads. That accident happened before TD skinned him, after which he elbowed Tom in the face and then tried to stamp on his head. Stop talking sh-te like you saw it.

Bury are the only real threat (barring disaster on our part) but to put themselves in the frame they will have to do bloody well against the likes of us, Wealdstone and Lowestoft and we still have to fail badly.

Bury have some very hard away games to come.
With regards to the tackles coming in i believe this was in some way related to our match at Hendon last month when it got ugly and some players were after retribution!

I never said he was carded for the clash of heads, I said it was a coming together with TD. To me, and maybe only me, it looked clumsy. If you think i'm talking 'shite like I saw it' I suggest you spend more time watching the game, that watching me. Maybe you'll get more enjoyment out of it

From my angle I thought it was quite a harsh yellow and maybe the ref was influenced by the clash of the heads moments earlier. To me it looked like TD got up quicker than the player expected whilst stepping over him.
However, NTG was the other side of the ground and thought it was filthy didn't say it was a red but from what he said don't think he would have been shocked if it had been.
Same game, same incident different angles, no one here saw from the same veiw as the ref so in point of fact - we are all talking shite.

Today was a case of job done. As soon as Leroy got the 1st, it was only ever going to finish one way. Lovely goal by Jolly, his loan spell at Wealdstone seems to have really done him the world of good. 4 goals in 8 games from Leroy as well. Agree with os, I felt he was MOTM today. A nice way to celebrate the 17th anniversary of my 1st Sutton game. What was the attendance today? Seemed to be a few extra kids (mostly watching the game ). Good to see kids for a quid working. AFC Hornchurch on Saturday is massive, but then every game is now..........

Good solid performance by everyone and exactly the type of typical performance that will win the league.
Bury have a few tough away games, Lowestoft are not getting the points they need and the rest are not good enough sides to match the top three in this league. A 4 game streak won't win us the league, but it might well break the back of the opposition leaving us in a great position. If we keep the level of performance up and keep going, that is more than achievable.
Must say that in my opinion the ref lost control after the stamp on TD and looked well out of his depth. Should have clamped down on the nasty stuff straight away.
Onwards and upwards lads, the finishing line is just round the corner!

Must say that in my opinion the ref lost control after the stamp on TD and looked well out of his depth. Should have clamped down on the nasty stuff straight away. Neither team let him try and control the game, and that started at the beginning, way before Casey was booked for whatever actually went on there. Virtually every time he blew the whistle he was surrounded by half a dozen players (ours, yours or both sides) putting their views forward in a pretty forceful manner. One side (ours) clearly committed more fouls, whether through clumsiness/frustration/tactics or whatever else people have said they felt it was, but both sides were making the most out of any situation - the slightest contact would see a player collapse, hampering his ability to play on where it would be sensible or treat discipline in a proportionate way. I think the way I put it on the way out of the ground was that we looked dirty, while Sutton antagonised the situation to take advantage. Given the situation, I thought he actually did pretty well to keep a lid on things.

I thought we controlled most of the game today and I was pleased that there were very few anxious moments. The pitch was firm and the ball was bouncing quite high but we played solidly throughout and could have scored more. As for the run-in, we need control and concentration for all the remaining games. Of course we all look at the fixtures that other teams have still to play and one starts to speculate on what might happen but the only thing we have control over is our own performance, which as Taz has said, makes the match aginst Bury a spectacularly important game - let's hope the floating supporters all turn out for that one. All the remaining games will be very testing but we passed the first test yesterday, albeit against a very young Hendon side who at times lost control over themselves and certainly the match. Hornchurch will obviously be a battle next Saturday but the absence of midweek games for us, is I believe, at the end of a long season, to our advantage. We, the supporters, have never been more important than now and our vocal support can play a vital role in helping the team over the line.
