Hazel asked us to be positive and supportive in the week. How can we be when we witness yet another poor performance? We definitely missed Honey and Tanner in midfield today, and i was quite suprised to see Nicky Greene start on the bench. Felt sorry for McBean and Watkins in the 1st half as they were trying to create chances, but were not getting the support they needed. I think i'm going to have nightmares about the 2nd goal. 2nd half we started off poorly and i wasn't overly suprised when we conceeded a 3rd. We did kind of rally late on, but it was a case of to little to late. Things have to change, and change quick, otherwise there will be no hope of salvaging anything from this train-wreck of a season.

OK here are a few stats about our position after 11 games:
PLD,11 W,1 D,2 L,8 PTS 5
Predicted final table:
22 Sutton United 42 4 8 30 34 92 -58 20
We need @37pts to avoid relegation with 31 to play, we basically now have to become a mid table team over night, if we do not then we could be looking at play off form required by the end of the month.
There is no reason what so ever to suggest we are improving in fact the opposite, there is no reason to be positive and therefore I would expect the board to be requesting the managers resignation before all hope is lost of retaining our connie sth status.
We just lost our most winnable game of the month 3-0
I genuinely believe that from a business point of view let alone football that IH's/SM's positions are untenable tonight!!

Who saw Weston's 12th man today?
Yes a bit of cheering can help the players but it can't help the basics which at the moment we are lacking.
Now we know some of these players and what they can do, so what has caused this dip in ability? Who has brought in players that just aren't working within the unit? Who picks the side and formation?
To quote a redhead (it is OK I'm not quoting that foul mouthed Taz).
Ian "you are the weakest link, goodbye".
Do the honourable thing and resign.

I paid my tenner to have the honour of presenting man of the match today.
I'd just like to thank everyone for making it such an easy decision to keep the bottle and give it to a random WSM player in the bar after the game.
This was the final straw I'm afraid. I'm not sure if I can take any more of this shite.
You want me to encourage? Give me something to encourage.
You want me to try to inspire confidence? We all tried, but we were let down again.
Serious change is needed. Now. 'Cos this is bollocks. That was a CCL performance today.....and that scares me somewhat

I for one, am royally pissed off.
If you're going to have a pop at the support, fair enough. Thats your call. But if thats the way you're going to play it, let me give you a hint........
Don't then send a side out to roll over and f*cking die like that. It's a tad uninspiring.
What a joke. Todays performance for a 'home' side was an absolute embarrassment. And after ONE win in 11 league games, I hear tonight we still have a manager.
The question must be asked.
Why?

Well if there is one thing that is blatantly obvious it is this. Fans are united. It seems like we are ALL saying the same thing now. Away trips to the 2 in form teams in the league, an impossible cup tie.
So much truth has been posted on this forum tonight. Its not the players ability. Explain this...why is it that players that have shown they are capable at this level are NOT performing week in week out. Its not just one player, its virtually all of them. Now although i'm a bright sort of chap I can see this, but its so obvious to virtually everyone. THEY DO NOT WANT TO PLAY FOR THE MANAGEMENT.
Think about it like this. You are in a job. You have a decent boss who knows how to get the best out of you. What happens? You work well and you are happy. You have a crap boss who treats you like dirt. You can't be bothered, you slag him off behind his back and there is no respect. You underperform. I can actually do rocket science, but this isn't it.
Comments recently from the management team saying that 'confidence is still high' reinforce this.
May I take a small section from the aforementioned Hazel Guardian interview earlier in the week
"I know the supporters are not happy, but they need to get behind the team now more than ever. When things don't go well some are very quick to turn their backs. It can't be good when after the first misplaced pass they get on the players' backs."
Very quick to turn out backs? Two wins in 24 League games and we are still coming? Its simple. Loyalty and respect have to be earned. And even us die harders have had enough. I'm very sorry, but the board need to act NOW. There is always talk of "yeah but there is no one about to replace and improve us now" - well sorry, we have now lost, what is it...5 on the trot in the league? Not really hard to improve things to be honest.
I'm fed up of losing. I'm fed up of our lack of team spirit. I'm fed up of excuses. I'm fed up of my weekends being ruined like this. But most importantly, and I hope others will agree with me here, I'm fed up of seeing the club I love and have supported for over 20 years dying a slow death like it is now.
I've got music to play on Tuesday so won't be at the Bromley game. And at the moment, i'm actually quite glad at that prospect.

A couple of comments heard at yesterdays game from some of our loyalist supporters -
"I've been coming here for over forty years, this is the worst I've seen"
"I won't be coming back unless something is done, I can see this kind of football cheaper and better elsewhere."
"For the first time I'm considering my future as a Sutton supporter!"
These are comments from loyal supporters, not the people who moan from under the covered terrace, but people who have been following the team for more years than a lot of the posters on here.
All I can add is, please, please do something at the top!!

Looking at the mathematics, I have to say & without wishing to be totally negative, rather realistic, we've had it!
I am resigned to the fact that this club will be playing at its lowest level come Aug 2008- in relative terms - since May 1963. Doesn't sound very palatable when put like that does it?
Yes, teams have got out of worse situations but normally a fundamental change has to take place first & then the turn around has to be almost immediate. The only saving grace is that we are actiually still only four points from safety taking goal diff into account but there are some far harder tasks in front of the team and bearing in mind that just one point has been taken from the two teams played who are also in the bottom four and both matches having been played at home, that saving grace looks to be a slim option.
I hope to God someone can come on here in April next year & tell me that I was wrong - I would gladly eat humble pie.
I'm off to take my frustration out on some unbeknowing Sunday footballers!!! Ha Ha!
Oh, BTW, the ref was bloody awful yesterday - hope I am an improvement this morning.

We have been worse since SM came in so I am calling for both to go not just IH, we now need to take 4pts from every 4 game which mean we need to win one on 3 and take a point from another. If in JR's days I don't think I have ever seen the fans united like this against the management. I echo the statements above it is painful watching this happen to our club, and it must be stressed that for the management this is just another job and SUFC means nothing to them. We will be left to pick up the pieces at the end of the day so I ask the board to act now!
Seriously if JR / TR are still available I would back them more to get us out of this crap!!

May I just say I am surprised its taken so long to realise that he was never the right man for the job and thats based on his previous unsuccessful record at previous clubs and not even at this level. This was nothing personal but can tell you that he never really had the b*****ks to tell players the truth only to divert from it and go round the houses so to speak. His man managerment skills were indeed crap and that I know from specific situations. As previously stated his coaching ability is not in question, but he certainly is and will never be a manager. He needs to go now but will he resign I doubt it as he is on contact,so its up to the board to do something fast,Bromley and Lewes in cup competitions next, forget about them, thens its unbeaten Eastborne away,Thurrock away,Havant home and lewes away in the league if we dont get at least 6 points from those games we will be in serious s*** and I think thats probably unlikely,so by the middle of November we will be in big trouble. This will probably effect the gates which are drindling, albeit with all you on here who are real Sutton United supporters.Get rid of him now before its too late or you may well be meeting Croydon Athletic in the Ryman premier next year, where you will see Palmer,Duke,Blackwell,Adams all enjoying there football and being appreciated by the club, names ring any bells,or were they not good enough.

Well I am glad you thought it was a decent post I only through the last bit in because Ian said to Brad,he lacked expeareance and needed more time so play some more reserve games and we will have another look, but he sent the likes of Zac Graham on loan to Croydon last year to gain expeareance, why did he not do the same with Brad and various others which he could have done and kept them at the club, man managerment maybe, its not a bitter comment, its a sad comment because he would have liked to have stayed at the club, but Hazel like he has shown to all you is not up to the job,and that expeareance is now being gained at another club full of young talent, believe me its not a bitter comment as I have said,so please dont take it that why and by the way I was impressed with your previous thread about whats going on.

I am genuinely very, very sorry to say that there is very little on this thread that I disagree with now.
Things have got to the stage where only a dramatic change SOMEWHERE can improve the players' attitudes. And it would be foolishly optimistic to say that can come from us supporters, although that is no reason not to try our very best. We are too tired. We might still turn up week in week out, but while we give all we do and get nothing back, we are not going to be inclined to raise the roof every week. Some of us still try to, but nobody can expect all of us to feel like doing it. Our motivation, morale and pride has become as bad as that of the players and we are just feeding off each other. The players play badly, we lose hope, we can't possibly support well in these circumstances and it's all one terminal downward spiral. Only a massive change somewhere very significant can possibly change this now.
Whatever happens off the pitch, it's clear that the players do not have confidence in the management. It's not up to me to speculate as to whose fault this is, if anyone's, because I have no right and because I can't possibly know for sure without being a fly on the wall within the club. The obvious solution is to replace the manager, but this is full of things that could go wrong. What if we can't find a suitable replacement? What if the replacement's man management skills are worse rather than better? What if the players are in such a rut that not even that can help?
The less obvious solution is to somehow help our current management team to get these things right. I've been trying to keep an open mind and think outside the box a bit. There are some things that I'm sure would help to a greater or lesser extent and certainly wouldn't hurt matters, but the sad thing is I don't know if the club or anyone else would take them seriously. So will they go for the obvious solution? Because there is no doubt whatsoever that something dramatic MUST be done NOW, or our once proud football club will be disappearing from sight. And it could be damaged forever.
In the meantime, although we may lack motivation ourselves especially as we haven't seen it work- I really hope that we can give our best support and try to inspire something out there. I know this sort of thing is wearing a bit thin now, but we are continually berating the players for giving up and rolling over, so please, let's not do the same thing ourselves.

Quote from Through The Haze By Paul Harford April 2006
He talks about reshaping the team and being able to STAMP OUR AUTHORITY on the squad, an interesting comment!! and finishes up by saying............
and I cannot end without saying how fantastic the supporters have been. From the board to rhe terraces everyone at the club is pulling together and things are beginning to turn in our favour. It has been noticed the impact the supporters are having, grouping together to not only sing and chant, but actively encourage the players. The atmosphere generated is inspiring and helps add to the desire of the players to get results. Even in my time time as a player, this probably the best support I've seen, and long may it continue.
Paul Harford moved on at the start of the new season, Was he unable to stamp his authority on the players?? just a question?
Acccording to IH this support no longer exists..
