Can't say I'm surprised tbh. Fingers crossed we can get someone in to stop the rot and turn it around. I notice we the supporters got a thanks at the end of the statement. Just wanna say thanks IH for everything and I'm sorry it wasn't to be. Good luck for the future!

Just spotted that on the official site.
A lot has been said recently and a couple of things spring to mind.
Firstly, I wish Ian good luck for the future. He has not let this recent situation go on and on and on but has seen it is for the best and taken the neccesary action. Whether on his own accord or asked by the powers that be. Its irrelevant.
I found myself casting my mind back to when he took over. I know he had already had one game but then came the away evening match at Eastbourne. I don't know why but I felt the need to be there. I left work early (something I would not ordinarily do) got agreement from the good lady Scallywag and headed for this game. We lost but the feeling in the car on the way home was that something had changed and there was light at the end of the tunnel and we could avoid the drop. We did.
Last season, despite the league position being in line with what we were used to we still saw some good moments, with Warren McBean making an impact and the Ide / Gaynor factor as well. I am probably missing something.
I hope Ian finds a good role that makes more use of his talents and thank him for his time with us.
Who's next?

Gary McCann!!
Just want to say thanks Ian for the hard work you have put in and best of luck for the future. We're all sorry that it hasn't worked out.
I reckon it's worth a bet us winning at Lewes now!!

I wish Ian well in the future, we all know he did his best and don't doubt his effort, but I think the time was right for a change for all concerned. I don't think that this season has been good for anyone from the chairman down to the supporters, lets hope we can all more on and be more successful.
Thank you Ian for your service and honour!

I agree with all the above. Best of luck in the future Ian.
I saw Micky Stephens at that game on Saturday and thought something was brewing there. I heard he was coming in as 'Director of Football' whatever that is.
As I said. i agree with the above, and thought that we would have been challenging for the play-offs or at least mid table mediocrity this season.

Best wishes to Ian. Hopefully he will have learnt a great lesson here. A good coach may not make a great manager.
Possibly a very predictable posting on here though. I think everyone knew at 4.50pm on Saturday that it was over. We had high hopes. Its a shame it didn't happen. Trust me, if we had started winning I'd be more than happy to have Hazel carry on...

Its very strange that its not worked out but i suppose we should have known that something was not right when Lewis put in a transfer request.(Maybe unconnected). I thought we had a team that could challenge for the play offs and i'm sure that Ian worked hard to that end.Lets thank him for his efforts and welcome back Micky Stephens (Another one of our all time greats).I saw him last season coaching Redhill under Bob Langford.

My gut feeling is that it will be an in house appointment, or a Sutton old boy. A great pity it did not work out with Ian, but at least it gives us time to try and turn the seaon round. Good luck in the future IH.

I would also like to add my congratulations, commiserations or whatever you want to call them to IH and hope that he does well in the future. A nice bloke but it just wasn't to be On the other hand it's pleasing to see that change can happen at the club when necessary. Just spotted that on the official site. I found myself casting my mind back to when he took over. I know he had already had one game but then came the away evening match at Eastbourne. I don't know why but I felt the need to be there. I remember that night and I've still never experienced an end to a first half quite like it! Those who were there know what I'm talking about.

Thank-you Ian, and good luck for the future. Also good luck to Stuart Massey and Mickey Stephans, starting tomorrow at Bromley.
Wasn't Keith Blunt the last Sutton manager to be sacked?

I think this was the right decision. I'm glad that Ian has done the decent thing.
I'd also like to thank Ian for his work at Sutton United, and wish him well for the future. I thought he built a decent side during the course of last season, and there were a few matches (Weston, Histon and Eastbourne at home, Bognor, Hayes and Cambridge away) when the team played some sparkling football. It's a pity things never really got going this season.
