Ah, the good old Cali'. Only drank there as the Belmont in my village days sadly. Was told a few stories by the Old Man about that place. Even the night Tony Blackburn was a DJ!

While i was by no means a regular i used to go in that pub myself. Here you go, a little reminder FANTASTIC pic. I used the Blackwater right u to its demise before the one way system was complete and remember it being just about the last building standing in a sea of nothingness at one time. Absolutely every other building in the vicinity had gone, including two of my old schools. This pic must have been taken late 1970s?

Having looked it up at Honeywood Lodge today, it seems the bend in GGL never was Cheam as such - Maps I saw from 1845 even up to the mid 20c as "Lower Cheam"

Yes, but the story goes that that settlement (Lower Cheam) uprooted itself when the church was built - I don't even know if it was the current church building. It could be a load of guff but nothing posted here actually refutes it.

I think it was early eighties as you can see the Tesco car park on the right
