Think one of our least convincing home performances of the season but we managed to win. So many times we've dominated and not won so happy with the 3 points. Eastleigh didn't have much going forward but had some big units and were a set piece threat which in the main we dealt with ok. Back 4 all performed well, particularly Downer. Lost count of the number of headers Dundas won in our own box was exceptional, my comfortable MOM. 3 points were needed and we worked hard for them. Definitely we were blowing 2nd half after so long without football. We'll be stronger next week for the 90 minutes.

.....now up to 17th in league, with games in hand, but all very tight especially at the bottom end of the table. Will miss Jamie Stuart in defence.

I thought we looked solid and composed first half with all the new lads bedding in well. Marv was a handful all match and his tracking back was superb. Deffo pen for me despite the outrage from the spits. Lift up yer arms in the box and that's a pen and probably lucky to stay on. We were good value for the lead. With all the cash Eastleigh have spunked they were always going to come out hard after the break and we were pushed back and rocking a bit but defending well but no question we needed a second and dundo bundled one over. Quite right we had a few boys blowing but with our lack of games a heavy pitch and the new lads not having had much football that was understandable. Still think we looked solid enough though even when Jamie got sent off but with the ref on fergie time and them nicking a late one plenty of relief all round when the whistle went. Very happy here at totter towers tonight.

Entertaining match with Eastleigh prepared to come and have a go at us.Lack of match practice was a factor in the second half but a well fought victory.

Certainly more entertaining than the away fixture at Eastleigh, which was dire. Saying that, it was hardly a classic. If the rumours about how much Eastleigh are paying some of their players are true, then you've really got possibly the most under-achieving team in the league there.
I wouldn't say we were comfortable at any real point, but we did have a point to prove. Dundo was almost playing as an addition centre back today (is there any position that man CAN'T play in), but he was just shaded as MoM by Marvin, who was a constant thorn in the side of their defence. 3 new guys made solid starts to their Sutton career, probably Folkes being the pick of the bunch for me.
Weirdly today, 2 goalkeepers in our division were stretchered off today within 10mins of the start of the games - Farnboroughs, and they had a reserve on the bench, and our old friend Stuart Searle at Chelmsford, who didn't have a keeper. Their no7 Anthony cook wore the keepers shirt for 80 odd min. Not that it stopped the teams winning, with Chelmsford winning 6-2 (Vassell getting another 2 for his collection).
Now up to 17th with at least 2 games in hand over all the sides above us (except Chelmsford) - and although it prob wont mean much in a couple of weeks, we're 4th in the form table - only Salisbury, Welling and Chelmsford are above us - although since we played Salisbury, they've played 5 league games against our 1!
Annoyingly if it wasnt for that last min consolation goal, we'd have had a positive goal difference for the first time since the 60th minute of the first game of the season way back in August!

I gather we are about to sign a new 6 foot 5 defender called Tom Jordan who has recently been released by Eastleigh. More to be revealed in the interview that should be up in half an hour or so

Joe Jordan's son? Interesting move. Bags of experience at Havant and Eastleigh. With oldy off and Jamie seeing red that would make a lot of sense.

I thought overall it was a very even contest that could have gone either way? If Eastleigh had been in front at halftime roles may have been reversed in the second. I give MOTM to MW just in front of Dundo as he was a real pain in Eastleigh's backside all afternoon. The penalty, some you get some you don't, but the guy lifted his hands so the ref is entitled to give it. We needed that 2nd and Dundo obliged, then it was pretty much the U's verses the ref who did his very best to influence the result. Jamie's sending off was very soft and ref's decision not to punish the most cynical foul of the afternoon on HarryO and then to allow the kicking of the ball into the net well after the whistle was a little more then fair play suggests The additional time as stated above was Fergie style and the free kick awarded to Eastleigh at the end was probably in retaliation to crowd shouts against him? A well battled win today, it wasn't always pretty but they rolled their sleeves up and got a important result which sees us out of the bottom 3. All the new boys did well with Pacquette maybe just a touch off the pace.
