In response to Mr D's well considered thought, you do have a good point. The law though law those does not state time wasting as such. It would either be unsporting behaviour or delaying the re-start of play. Also Dos stated that the referee differentiated between attacking and defending not who was winning. Personally, I can't see what difference that makes as you can still delay the re-start after giving away a free-kick while on the attack as we saw. I think the ref was struggling to explain himself there. If he'd respnded by saying, he's wasting his team's time maybe fair enough.
However, having dished out a harsh second yellow to Skip he realy should have shown some consistency. However, I'd say that was beyond this fella on Saturday. I'm sure he'll have much better days at the office.

Apologies if this is old news. Ross Flitney the Eastleigh 'keeper was the bloke sent off at Old Trafford in the second minute of a LC tie.
The Barnet scorer in a 1-4 defeat was Dean Sinclair. Gerard Piqué of Barcelona and Spain , was playing for United.

Apologies if this is old news. Ross Flitney the Eastleigh 'keeper was the bloke sent off at Old Trafford in the second minute of a LC tie. The Barnet scorer in a 1-4 defeat was Dean Sinclair. Gerard Piqué of Barcelona and Spain , was playing for United. You might also have mentioned that Nicky Bailey was in the Barnet side that evening. ;D |

I'm afraid i know hardly anything about Bailey. I think he played during a period when i was not following it very closely. It was the 'keeper that was bugging me , i didn't get a programme at the game but saw his name in the match report and knew i'd heard it before. A ludicrous sending off but at least Barnet fared better than Wigan who lost the final against United 4 - 0. |
