Only fair probably that there should be a new thread rather than off the back of the game yesterday...
Extremely disappointed to see Scriven and Ottaway go - Scrivens been nothing short of a hero since joining us and Ottaways performances this season have earned a great deal of plaudits. I wish them well for the future.
As ever I have faith in Dos! He admits in his notes he has a lot of work to do in the summer..

Can't disagree. Scriven has to be one of the best keepers at our level and made some phenomenal saves during his time with Sutton. Harry O's workrate was an example to the rest of the team and he was one of our better performers against Farnborough.
Boateng is less of a loss. He looked lively when he rejoined us in the autumn but his recent performances have been disappointing and he generally looked better going forward than defending. More of a natural wing-back than full back?

I hope that this is not the writing on the wall! One would have thought that these players were very much part of our future. At the start of the season I predicted that we would be a mid-table side and that looked very likely but I am not so sure now - although I do not think we will be relegated I wish the departees well

Why the hell have we let Harry O go? ?? Most committed player up front next to Dundo!!!!!! Bloody hell, what are we doing now? Scrives, yes he's struggling to get past Tom as No. 1 keeper and we're on a tight budget. Boats was returning to his former usless form, but Harry O? ? FFS what the hell is that about!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Do we not want to have any kind of attacking presence at all? Are we giving up for the rest of the season? Do we not care any more? Is there a greater plan I'm missing here? Does Dos have someone else lined up? ?? Sorry, but that's just pissed me off even more that the last couple of aimless, guttless performances where Harry O has been one of the shining lights. Bugger me unless we get some quality in who gives a monkey's we're screwed now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All hopes now lie on Chris Benjamin's shoulders. Hope he can cope!!!!!!!!!! Fail to see how this is progress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First Craig now Harry. Not happy at all!!!!!!!!!!! Hope we don't get another 'proven' goal scorer who doesn't give a toss in and waste money which would have been better spent on players who care. From the last two performaces that's a real problem we need to sort out, and getting ride of those who work their guts out for the side feels wrong. Sorry, but I don't like this one bit. Oh, by the way I'm a bit miffed *hint*

I don't think if you read what Dos has said that he got rid of either HarryO or Boats as such, he appears to be indicating that neither would signup for next season which suggests both would be out looking for new clubs come the end of the season. We are not going to make the playoffs now so spending money out on wages on players who won't stay is a waste of much needed funds. Far better to keep any money we do have to add to the squad in the summer, meanwhile Dos gets a look at some of the younger players FOC, and you never know we might get a gem out of it?
One of the things I criticised about Truro last week was setting up for a draw in their position rather then trying to build for next season as they cannot stay in this league and putting 5 across the back and playing for a draw in their position makes little sense to me. Dos has said that he will answer questions about his decisions, and he is approachable enough so why not ask him. I have to say he hasn't got a lot wrong in the past 5 years so I have no reason to think he has now.
If you look at the football we play its capable of beating anyone in this league as we have proved. Yes we haven't scored enough but to suggest its all gone out the window is totally wrong.

Have to completely agree with what holmes said regarding Harry O. A few weeks back we had big Wayne in goal because Tom didn't want to come back, Dos needed to have a 'chat' about is commitment to Sutton, now Kevin departs There seems to be a real lack of loyalty. With the current performances, and now this, can't see the crowds improving ! Best of luck to all three who are leaving, I for one hope you find something soon.

Sad to see Scrivs go, comfortably the best goalkeeper I have seen at Sutton but fully understand the reason, Lovelock looks a good replacement and could be our keeper for many years. Boateng no loss. Ottaway has improved and was doing ok but again I go back to end result and his and the team's scoring record not much to write home about. He was a worker no doubt about that and I wish him all the best at his next club.

Budgets are all important these days and I guess that it sometimes means that difficult decisions have to be made.
On balance, the Kevin Scriven decision makes sense although like everybody else, I am disappointed to lose such a quality keeper. Tom has stepped in twice for Kevin this season and done nothing wrong that I can remember.
I would assume that Kevin was not the lowest paid member of the squad and to keep somebody of his standard on the bench long term would not have suited anybody.
Harry O is probably the most disappointing but if he cannot agree with the terms offered by the club then his departure was inevitable. Dos must be trusted to know the value of players etc and if Harry couldn't live with what the club offered and would not commit to next season, then it seems that a very hard decision was made now rather than in the summer.
As we are clearly building for next season now, lets hope that some of the youngsters from the reserves if given a chance, take their opportunity and give us some reason to cheer and look forward.

Good post. Must try to be positive now and hopefully look forward to next season optimistically. If we can get the points required to be safe reasonably quickly we can play without pressure and hopefully get behind a few young guys starting their career allowing them to enjoy the challenge of stepping up. We do need to drown out the moaners though and stay upbeat at the games if we can!! Hard to believe people actually get straight on the case of some of the youngsters,

Furthermore it would have been more sensible to escape from the vulneral position we are in before these exodus

Losing Harry O at this stage in the season, whatever the reason, doesn't make me feel positive. I'd feel a whole lot better if we smashed a load of goals in on Tuesday, but right now can't see where they'll come from. If Dundo has to play deep and Harry B doesn't pull off a blinder, where are we getting our goals from? A Rents wonder hit? A scuffed goal from a corner? An og?
I really hope the lads can pull their socks up and get going, but the past two performances have left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.
Last season was always going to be tough to follow, but there was so much promise at the start of the season with new morning training, great facilities, purportedly better players. It's all gone flat and sadly feels a bit of a let down.
Sorry if that's against the established line here, but that's how I feel A couple of good performances would cheer me up though.

I don't think there is an established line here, or should be one. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and with the exception of a small number of players (Off the top of my head I would hazard a guess at Dundo, Downer, Rivs, Harry B and Scrivs until yesterday) we're all going to have a difference of opinion about some of the more fringe players.
My opinion is that in terms of the players we have brought in this season, I think very few of them have come in and made a difference - only Sam Rents, Steven Old, Tom Jordan, and just coming to fruition now, Dean Sinclair. Most of the others I really can't put into a "good Sutton player" category.
Harry O worked his socks off but Dos did make it clear to him and us that he's there to score goals. He's not been and therefore puts himself into a worse negotiating position for next season. Boateng I thought was better than his first time here, but has had some shocking performances in recent weeks - that red card he got at Chelmsford was more of a relief that a disappointment.
What worries me more is how some players have left the club and have gone up a level or played better. Kyle Vassel is a perfect example of this, but you could put Stefan Payne and Gwillim in that category as well. What's been the case in the previous 4 seasons is how players that have been more cast off by other clubs, mostly, have come here and performed. One look at players like Karl Murray show that in spades.
I still think that there is a fundamental issue with cohesion in the squad, and a negative feeling approaching a match. I know Leroy was more brought in to lift the dressing room but that's not appeared much yet.
Historically, the highest number of points that 3rd from bottom (last relegation spot) has had was Maidenhead with 46 in the first season of the BSS. We just need to get through to the end of the season with no more dramas, and then making a good start next season, we'll forget this drama within weeks.

I agree and thats why a win tomorrow against Ricay would be a massive step in making sure we avoid being dragged into a relegation battle. Lets just ourselves over that line.

In light of recent performances and now losing arguably the two best players at the club, it has put me off going to many more games this season, certainly at current prices..unless there is some fiendish obscure master plan hat nobody else can see it looks like the club/team is on the slide. But then I always compare every team to the footballing side of the mid 90s that I grew up watching

I don't feel we are in a relegation battle at the moment after a good run of results.Dos doesn't always get it right and this season has proved that. However he is a good manager & motivator but sometimes sticks with certain players far longer than he should and releases other players quicker than he might. There are only a few of the present squad i would retain for next season and its only my view.
They are Lovelock , Downer ,Rivierre,Harry B ,Dundo, Benjamin,Folkes.I would have included Ottaway & Boateng as well but sadly terms were not agreed.
