Not there because of work commitments (all these Tuesday games are a pain in the backside). I am sure the original comment was not entirely serious.
I hate letting people down by not volunteering but my other life sometimes takes over (it is what pays for me to do united we stand, boost the budget and golden goals etc). Plus bar takings

Before I start on what is the most obvious topic of the night, I would say that Weston deserved their win, especially on the first half performance. We were not even close then but performed better 2nd. Not that it's too much of an issue in my eyes. We had a lot of younger players out there tonight, and they are only going to improve with games like that.
Tonight was all about the ref. He didn't have a great first half performance, but it didn't have a bearing on the half time score. 2nd half it was a disaster, and he totally lost control of the game - the brawl was totally perpetuated by his performance before that.
Utterly shocking.

You didn't miss a great deal. There can only have been about 25 minutes of in play action.
We started as a shambles, 1st 5 was probably one of the worst starts to a game I have ever seen. Conceded early, then 2 down after not too long. When you struggle to score that makes it nigh on impossible, especially against an organised, defensively sound side like Weston.
We kept going and gave our best, got better as it went on. We didn't really look like scoring though - their keeper didn't make a save. Marv and Folkes looked like they had the beating of the full backs but noone really threatened to get on the end of their crosses. Eventually Dean did and we got 1 back but couldn't force an equaliser before their breakaway 3rd (and didn't look too much like we would despite a bit of pressure).
Lots will be said about the ref. He was incompetent and for his sake and everybody else should never referee again. Unfortunately it was obvious early on he didn't have a clue (2 identical handballs - one given, one not etc etc) and it only got worse as he lost control. Allowed time wasting from very early in the game and Weston made the most of it. Made for a dreadful, frustrating evening. Spoiled the game and at this level when you are paying to watch football it is very sad. I don't think he actually affected the result in all probability but it would have been nice to have been given the chance to see a game.
I thought all the youngsters acquitted themselves well, all showed something. All made mistakes but they will learn and indeed got better the longer the game went on.

On a bitterly cold night we were beaten by probably the most cynical team I've seen at GGL in some time. They went ahead with an early goal on five minutes that looked just a bit too easy as we were slow out the blocks and halfway through the first half caught us out on the break. When a side starts time wasting with an hour left to play you know you are in for a long night. Particularly when the ref is as weak as the lager in the carshalton club house and has mug for the taking stamped all over him. We finished the first half strong and came out much improved in the second and I said to duke we needed an early goal to give ourselves a real chance. Despite some great wide play by jay and some really good balls into the box we just couldn't get a finish on the end of it and meanwhile muggins and the con men went from bad to worse. By the time their two got a yellow for hacking marve down he should have been on a card and final warning but him, and his oppos, had been allowed to bully and abuse the ref and his officials all night long. When foulksy objected to a dodgy offside the ref was on him like a rash not a shread of consistency for the whole game. Didn't see the Harry straight red but if he lost his rag because of the refs connivance with the Weston spoiling tactics I'm not gonna blame him. By the time we got one back we were running out of road but we kept going despite more shocking time wasting, rolling around, booting the ball away with the ref doing f all. By the time they hit us at the death for the third we had everyone thrown up front battling for an equaliser and the score flattered the team from the methadone capital of the southwest. Was I one of the angry brigade giving it some at the end? Guilty. But after coughing twelve notes on a freezing night to watch a bunch of conmen and a ref miles out if his depth I'm going to make my feelings known like it or not.

Sadly, this is a game that will be remembered more for the fractious final 15 minutes than for the scoreline. I can't disagree that WSM deserved their win, but they were running down the clock from around the 20 minute mark when they went 2-0 up.
We gave it more of a go in the second half but were rewarded only with Dean Sinclair's first goal for Sutton, a firm header following good work from Marvin Williams. The ref did add on six minutes of stoppage time, but rather than providing the equaliser that we briefly threatened it only allowed Kayne McLaggon to complete his hat-trick for the visitors. I daresay the Weston camp will say that justice was done.
Only 308 were there to witness our third consecutive home defeat. That's six league defeats at GGL this season, four of them against West Country sides.

Still over 4 times more than the "other team in the borough" who beat Harrow in front of a whopping 75 people. In all of the games in the Ryman Premier this season, that's the 3rd worst crowd. Only Concord and Whitehawk (both relative newcomers from this level of football) have had worse.

Can't remember a lower home league attendance sadly. Or even close to that low. Real shame we've been hurt so badly by postponements.

I am going to agree I am not sure we would have won the game tonight in any circumstances and Weston certainly have a striker who knows how to put them away. With that I have not witnessed a performance by a opposing side and referee since the infamous Heybridge FA Cup defeat back in about 2003ish? I am guilty of letting my feelings be known to the ref, their players, management and their silly old duffers sitting in the posh seats, and it felt nice The result of this match will disappear in the stats figs and be forgotten but the manner of it will live long in the memory. Weston's time wasting antics were nothing short of blatant cheating, I think they embarrassed themselves, the league they play in and robbed the paying public of a football match. All this in front of a referee who was clearly out of his depth and totally unable to control the game. I was told by one of the Weston suits that we must have played like that to get a result, I can honestly say I have never seen us do that even when rock bottom of the BSS, and would rather lose then Sutton embarrass themselves like that. I think Marv was a best player tonight and fully deserved his MOTM.
