Sort out your sea legs. Away days to canvey and on the ferry across from Pompey to gosport. Very interesting season ahead. Forgive my ignorance, why the ferry?

If you follow the A3 all the way into Portsmouth, the ferry then becomes the quickest way across to Gosport.
Just make sure Stewart, its not the ferry to Ryde

If you go by train it's the only sensible way. Get off Portsmouth harbour and hop on the boat across to gosport taking the booze cruise to a whole new level.

So the Conference South is going to look something like this next season: Basingstoke Town Bath City Boreham Wood Bromley Chelmsford City Dorchester Town Eastbourne Borough Eastleigh Farnborough Havant & Waterlooville Hayes & Yeading United Maidenhead United Salisbury City or Dover Athletic Staines Town Sutton United Tonbridge Angels Weston-super-Mare Those joining: Concord Rangers Ebbsfleet United Gosport Borough Oxford City or Bishop Stortford Whitehawk (Brighton City) The other question mark is will Farnboro get the boot at the conference AGM and reprieve AFChx, I wouldn't bet against it? It's looking interesting now! From the bookies point of view, they would struggle to put anyone but Eastleigh/Dover/Salisbury (depending who is left) as favourites. I would also expect they will back Whitehawk to be up there too (in terms of budget alone). I'd expect the bookies to underestimate us yet again this season (according to them we'd have been 13/14th. Its also nice to have a couple of different sides to the usual - Mr Frake, have we played Gosport before? Huge achievement for Concord to get up there - we were their first ever opponents in the Ryman, what's the betting the fixture computer does the same again? Relegation candidates - Not knowing as much as I would like to about some of the teams coming up, I think we are probably looking at the usual candidates e.g. Maidenhead, Bromley, Tonbridge (even though the last one amazes me somewhat with some of the players they have). As for Farnborough, however much I'd like their dodgy dealings to be punished, the fact that the Conference have already broken their own rules in terms of the points deduction in their favour, I think it's really unlikely they will kick them out of the league. Although I'm pretty relieved that we're not going to Hornchurch next season, I do worry about Farnborough's ability to complete next season with their financial woes.

I did a sort of dummy run to Gosport after our game at Havant in March. (Nothing to do with football - there were a couple of pubs I wanted to visit. ) The ferries depart from near Portsmouth Harbour station about every 20 minutes and the crossing is only about five minutes. Unfortunately it's then over two miles from the ferry terminal to Gosport Borough's ground. If you're travelling there by road you'd avoid Portsmouth and go via Fareham.

I believe that a points deduction after the last Thursday also depends on position in the league. If the club is in a relegation place, the deduction is held over to the next season, otherwise it is applied straightaway (which might drop the club into a relegation spot). So Farnborough did it right by ensuring they were 10 points clear of the relegation places before going into administration.

I think Basingstoke may struggle next season given the financial constraints they now have

Someone's going to smear funny money all over the shop and I agree that whitehawk bc are prime contenders. Last year of course it was Eastleigh and although they reined it in mid term, from which we benefitted nicely thank you, their failure to get promoted must leave their finances well wobbly again. Likewise chelmo and stoke as has been mentioned. I don't expect farnborough to have any problems as the whole thing was a scam as the richest man in Surrey has readily admitted. Tosser.

Using SM1 2EY as the start point and choosing the most practical route, using the clubs map on google that now includes addresses, postcodes, phone numbers etc. and can be used to plan your own journey: maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=215627034870648486602.000495b68964f9a1b9957&msa=0&source=gplus-ogsbBromley 11.7 Staines Town 18.6 Hayes & Yeading @ Woking 21.8 Tonbridge Angels 34.4 Farnborough 34.5 Ebbsfleet United 40.3 Maidenhead United 41.8 Basingstoke Town 50.2 Whitehawk Brighton City 50.3 Boreham Wood 53.6 Concord Rangers 58.7 Havant & Waterlooville 59.6 Chelmsford City 63.5 Eastbourne Borough 65.8 Bishop's Stortford 71.5 Gosport Borough 73.2 Eastleigh 75.7 Dover Athletic 83.3 Bath City 127 Dorchester Town 127 Weston-Super-Mare 152

It looks interesting a bit lower in the setup: Godalming transferred to the SW from Central. Guernsey join Ryman 1S along with Carshalton and a team who have been doing well in Sussex for a while Peacehaven.
4 question marks: Will Aldershot join Conf Nat? Will Farnborough be kicked out of the Conference setup, they only have a few days to get their CVA details sorted in time for the AGM? Truro look a mess and whether they can compete in the Southern Premier has to be doubtfull? Then what will happen to Thurrock as unless they pull a rabit out of the hat will get points deducted and probable relegation in place of the Bobbins?

Hmm... I would have thought they might get Maidenhead. I'd go with Hayes & Yeading, depending on where they actually end up playing. Of course, they might get Maidenhead and we might indeed end up with Staines. I would think Bromley (nearest to us) will get Ebbsfleet. But you never know, they might put Ebbsfleet with Concord, Chelmsford with Bishop's Stortford and Boreham Wood with Staines or something weird like that. It's never exactly how one would expect it to be.
Also, we won't of course know for sure until next month who will be in our league!

Bath / Weston Dorchester / Eastleigh Gosport / Havant Basingstoke / Farnborough Maidenhead / H&Y Staines / Sutton Whitehawk / Eastbourne Dover / Tonbridge Bromley / Ebbsfleet Boreham Wood / B Stortford Chelmsford / Concord R
