KBB and I were discussing the new right back on the way to Bath and he was the guy we came up with. So, if true, we got it bang on.

If so it would be nice to get something right. Having continued the jinx (well me anyway) having seen the youth side lose their final to finish off the hat- trick !

What happens if Sam Rents gets injured?

What happens if Sam Rents gets injured? If it were short term I guess we would move a left sided midfield player in. Otherwise we would get a player on loan.

I'm still anticipating another 2 midfielders.

I cannot see another 2 midfielders myself, with Williams, Taylor, Slabber, Benjamin up front that is going to put Dundo in the middle with Ali, Rivs and James F in then there is Kevant and Rhys to come in, so for me we look light at the back? I don't know if Jordan is coming back and we will need to replace him if he doesn't plus we need a right back? A couple of class defenders will put us in contention next season.

Taylor and Slabber will be the first choice strikers. With Williams playing wide. I hope Dundo gets a place just behind the front two with Sinclair and Ali behind and Folkes on the right. If we bring in two more midfield players I would assume at least one of the current team will go.

A Dover fans view after their play off defeat yesterday.
'Hopefully we'll be stronger next year; however I can't help thinking that with Sutton, Eastleigh and Ebbsfleet all throwing the cash about and living above their means, next year will be harder than ever'

A Dover fans view after their play off defeat yesterday. 'Hopefully we'll be stronger next year; however I can't help thinking that with Sutton, Eastleigh and Ebbsfleet all throwing the cash about and living above their means, next year will be harder than ever' And more from their forum. Think again. Eastleigh will continue to throw money at it and if they sort themselves out a few decent defenders + a GK, I can see them walking it. Sutton finished the season like a train, winning their final 8 games and have just signed 2 quality strikers. Whitehawk are bankrolled to an extent where they will probably be challenging. Then you have possibly Ebbsfleet with their planned 8K a week budget with Daish at the helm.
I think next season will be a lot more tougher at the top, actually. This season was our best chance yet; Welling won the league with only 86 points - the lowest tally since the BSS's inception.

I do love it when other clubs fans think we are "moneybags". If they had any clue about our club, they know what we are doing is above board and totally sustainable. And our budget will certainly be significantly lower than many clubs in our division.
We're not Eastleigh, Truro, Basingstoke etc.

We're not Eastleigh, Truro, Basingstoke etc. Whilst we may not be spending more than we can afford like some I'd be surprised given the players we have signed if our budget isn't pretty high up there now. I really can't see that our budget is 'significantly lower' than many clubs yet we are signing some of the best players that will be in the division next year. Sure Dover and Eastleigh (possibly Ebbsfleet judging by the recent announcement) may have bigger budgets but I doubt there will be many others.

The point is Gareth that our budget is sustainable. We may well be in the top 10 budgets, but it will be small compared to some of the named teams above - not forgetting those who have a big budget for half of the season before realising that they can't actually afford it - you could easily put a few teams in that category. And then there is the point that teams like Eastleigh and Ebbsfleet may have bigger budgets than ours, but significantly so. Remember as well that the Strikers are Key initiative is paying for a lot of those "best players" too. My guess is that Maidenhead, Concord, Tonbridge, Staines, Weston and probably Eastbourne would have smaller budgets, but when you have financially dodgy sides in the league (such as Chelmsford, Farnborough and Bromley to name 3) it's hard to actually get the base figures. At least you can be sure we'll pay the players on time. For Mr Slabber that will be a novelty - you have to feel for him a bit. 3 out of his last 4 sides have been Chelmsford, Eastleigh and Grays.

I don't disagree with any of that. Just to say our budget is significantly lower than many clubs in the league seems on the face of it to be inaccurate.
