Whitehawk needed council and Brighton & Hove FC permission re name change. The latter refused so Whitehawk's name will not change. Bit strange that it's been left up to another club rather than, say, Sussex FA. I'm with the Albion on this one though

You've got a PR problem when the most famous thing that's happened at your club is a full frontal youtube blast from the wealdstone raider. No wonder they tried to change the name. Youwannadealwivme?

The pantomime at Farnborough continues. Despite giving it large about all these consortiums of big money backers bidding to take them over it looks like the wheels are off again and now Day has launched a last-ditch rescue bid, asking the fans to back him in a takeover where he buys a club, which he already effectively owns, for a pound and writes off half a mill of "paper" debt that they supposedly owe him . With the administration deadline looming I will lay you good odds that the muppets who run the league will let this joker run rings round them yet again.

I am still trying to figure out just what the hell is going on at farnborough. Far as I know they had til Monday to get a buyer in place and the deadline came and went so under the rules they should have been liquidated but of course nothing has happened, the two bob millionaires never ponied up and the farce continues. I don't know if the richest man in Surrey is still trying to put his "buy my own club for a quid" plan in operation but I know normal rules and regs don't apply to that mob so maybe they are being allowed to keep the circus on the road until their lottery numbers come up.

From what I can see on their forum, the bids never came in but Mr Day has put in a "Back Stop" bid (again, what that actually means is up for debate) which will keep the wolf from the door.

How many new signings are an overall benefit to clubs? I think it could be a low at two out of three. Therefore any manager who makes wholesale changes to his squad is taking a risk. Fortunately for us the majority of last seasons squad is still with us. If a new player does not fit in we do have cover. We should be able to see after the first 4-6 games if the current starting eleven works. After that time we are likely to see the squad trimmed.

Having bigged up H&W's prospects this season in another thread, I now see that Ollie Palmer has left them to join Mansfield.
Palmer was last season's leading scorer in Conference South. The second-highest scorer was....Jamie Slabber.
