Will there be any ground in terms of "average" we will go to than Stortford next season. There's nothing spectacular about it or offputting. It's just....there isn't it? I think there are other grounds that have good bits, ruined by naff bits. Staines have a great main stand and bar, but especially poor at each end. Bromley's isn't too bad either, esp the two end terraces, but don't have a great main stand either. Brighton City (was known as Whitehawk last year) had the last time that I went there (3 years ago) of having a wooden fence in front of the main stand which was some 20 yards back from the perimeter fence and only seemed to be there to protect a grass verge adjacent to the touchline and therefore if the play was over this side you could not see what was happening this side of the ground if a tackle was made. Also I will forewarn everyone, the only parking was in a country lane adjacent to the ground and it was first come, first served, the later you were the closer to Brighton Racecourse you had to park

Aah yes. As Internet sensation the wealdstone raider says in his infamous rant at white hawk. "You've got no ground. You've got no fans." A mate of mine who went there with Hendon a couple of years back said he basically had to hike across the South Downs. There's also the possible urban myth that taxis refuse to drop off there as the estate is a little bit tasty. Still, can't wait to be honest. "You wanna deal with me?."

You can't smoke at Dartford though Col. This is true ! Given that small minus point, for me it's one of the best , at this level. Or well the level just above! You have a PM by the way !!

This could well be an epic 'in the making' Gandermonium update right there ! A crazy fan that takes on the world, and a dodgy council estate run by the local riff-raff, Duke is going to love that!!

You can't smoke at Dartford though Col. You can! They allow it by the wooden shed thingy near the club house, I admit you can't see much from there but its still in the ground. Eastbourne is where the fag SS patrol, I saw 1 steward go on the hunt for a sprious puff of smoke, never to be seen again. When you go outside for a ciggy they lock you out when you are not looking.

Also, come to think of it you can smoke just on the otherside of the Bar, out on the terrace @ Dartford! Borehamwood didn't do much for me last year, seems again there's only one place to stand to watch the game!

I was put off Farnborough by their stupid removing bottle lids from kids drinks idea. There was also a bottle top embargo at Bromley two seasons ago. I imagine that people started bringing in their own, as the bottles were sold virga intacta last season, so to speak.

You can smoke in the ground, but only near the only wooden structure in it Their silly stand that no one can use, and that the clubs creditors must see and think I paid for that? The covered area of the ground you can use appears to be connected via the back of the stands to the farnborough drainage system either that of its some form of weir? I like going to Dover, Tonbridge and always found Stortford a comfortable ground? Not one of these sentences is a question, OS

Where would you place Gander Green Lane in this appraisal? (At risk of bumping the dugout situation here, methinks)

A lot better than it was with the GGL end squared off and covered and fewer floodlight pylons in the way. But we still need to square off and cover the Collingwood Road end and the main stand is impressive to look at but not so impressive to sit in. The dugouts, as you say, are an annoyance and ruin the terrace in front of the main stand. I fear the new stand in the Development Plan will be one of those where the seats start at pitch level, which is a terrible viewing position. This is the solution used by many lower level clubs who put in a stand just to meet ground grading requirements, in the knowledge that no-one is going to sit in them.

I thought that the proposed new stand was just a standing terrace? That would undoubtedly be the best spot in the ground to watch from if built due to proximity to pitch.

Although we all view it as 'home' and it is a grand old, historic place for us, for a visitor I would think they would be (are) very underwhelmed. The changes could turn it on it's head though, with 4 sides covered and 2 sides close in it would be one of the better ones.
