and without looking it up i'd say that substitutes were first introduced in the 1965/66 season In the English League yup - Keith Peacock of Charlton was the first. Substitutes were used in the 50s though in World Cup Qualifying games

20. Colour – football used to be played by grey players and watched by grey supporters on grey Saturday afternoons.
When did this stop ? Was it when colour TV came in............................

I think colour first came in for the 68/69 season on ITV (When the new franchises came in) and 69/70 season on the BBC. The first televised colour sporting event was Wimbledon 1967.
You can see why I do well at quiz nights.

It is based on a quote by Rodney Marsh after he had left English football and moved to the USA in 1977. Nothing to with TV.

Purely because he had a shop in Cheam Village, I'd hazard a guess at Peter Houseman. Failing that, for a similar reason, Alan Mullery as I think he had a shop in Banstead.

That works Billy - only nearly 60 years worth of players to pick from - and possibly not only one answer. Give us a bit more of a clue, like a time period

Fairly sure I played cricket against Phil Beal in the early 80s, he would have been playing for Godstone. Pressec will correct me if I'm mistaken.
Mark Lazarus played in QPR's league cup winning team and against us for Ilford but I don't think he played in Scotland.
