What a wonderful problem to have when we have quality way beyond the starting XI. It's a long season ahead, and there will be more injuries, suspensions and sometimes at this level, the odd personal reason why a player can't play a certain game.
Let other sides say that we have a huge budget. I'm sure it's not the smallest in the league and maybe by our standards its a bit larger than previous years. But we've just let go of 3 players to pay for one - and those 3 players were on basically expenses. We really don't have anywhere near the budget of Ebbsfleet and Eastleigh, and I'll put money on the fact that none of our players is earning anything close to 4 figures, which I'm sure one can't say about Eastleigh. If you look at the players we've signed, they are pretty much all from this level except Taylor, who moved to us for family rather than financial reasons (I heard that Whitehawk tried to sign him for MORE money than we paid for him).
The only thing about those money rumours that gets on my nerves is the total ignoring of the Dos effect - if you were at this level and you spoke with Dos and Telfs and co, and you see something about how the club is run, wouldn't you be more likely to play? A good club with a good set up, knowing that you WILL get paid every week. You can't put a price on how much that makes a player want for a club. Eastleigh don't have that and therefore need to pay a lot more to get the same calibre of player here. And why we have players who year upon year we've build a team on.
