Sorry its a bit late. Can't make this one sadly, but even if I could I would be certain the game would be called off just after I arrive! A decent podcast, thanks. I wouldnt see Sessegnon as our key man, though (although he has done well since coming into the team mid season following an injury to our other right back) - Anthony Cook will be your biggest problem, but we have all round strength ,all the way from Edwards in goal through to May and Thalassitis up front. Looking forward to the game, as long as the weather doesnt affect it too much.

Latest on Twitter is that game is ON. I'm just up the road in Swanscombe. Rain here is steady but not heavy.

Released by Woking, along with Gavin, and was at Dover. Talented midfielder who spent his early days with Chelsea.

We took our chances and your forwards didnt take theirs - you had much of the possession, but the miss 2 minutes before we got our 2nd really should have made it 1-1. Your defender then missed a flick on and we scored the 2nd and it was almost game over at that point

Your defender then missed a flick on and we scored the 2nd and it was almost game over at that point That report summed up the game. We played ok up to the box and then often lost possession. Defensive mistakes again cost us again. We did miss the two Jamie's today. Once we get the back into the team we will see a winning side.

A frustrating afternoon yet again but unlike a couple of previous matches I think we can take a lot from the game. Yes Ebbsfleet got their 9th win on the bounce and yes they took their chances but the football came from us. We created 4 or 5 guilt edged chances which if either Jamie had been on the field would have been smashed in the back of the net. Defensively we still look the more likely of the 2 sides to make a mistake and both goals were perhaps avoidable with a touch of fortune going to the home side for the opener. I am not sure Bricknell had any real idea where his header was going.
The difference this week is we did break into that final 3rd with some superb moves which only required the final touch. Despite the score line we still looked the better side, we took the game to them from the start and they showed little or no ambition going forward other then lumping it forward. In that respect I thought Tonbridge were a far better side last week. Walking out to 'simply the best' playing over their PA was perhaps more embarrassing for them then us as they are certainly far from that.

This was a pivotal game, 5th v 4th at the start of play, and we lost it. With Ebbsfleet on home turf and going for their record ninth successive win, the momentum was with them - but in terms of possession and chances created we were their equals. Alas, with both Jamies missing up front, and Bricknell taking full advantage of some slack Sutton defending, we ended up with nothing. We created three decent scoring opportunities before the decisive second goal but wasted them all, the worst miss being Dean Sinclair's early in the second half.
And so we drop to sixth. With Bromley winning again and now 16 points above us, I think any lingering hopes of the title must be banished. We've now got to battle for a play-off place. Ebbsfleet come to GGL on 12 April, just a few games from the end of the season, and that's a match we might need to win to finish in the top five. I hope our players who were out there today bear that in mind.

Walking out to 'simply the best' playing over their PA was perhaps more embarrassing for them then us as they are certainly far from that. We get used to the PA guy playing Simply the Best when we win and like you said, the majority of us think its an awful choice to play. Bricknell obviously knew he was heading the ball in the general direction of the goal, but his facial expression did suggest pleasant surprise that it had gone in - standing directly behind him on the terrace,it was obvious it was in as soon as it left his head. Always difficult to judge the opposition when you only see them once or twice a season, especially when weather conditions are so poor as well. We certainly are capable of playing better football than we did today (we missed McMahon today as he is more the midfield playmaker) - but at the end of the day its a case of doing whats necessary to win each game and I suspect we decided to play on the break deliberately. Yes,you looked the better footballing side today, but that counts for nothing if you dont put the ball in the net or defend soundly.Stillthink based on today only that you will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.

First of all, well done to Ebbsfleet for providing such a resilient surface with regards to the amount of water it soaked up before and during the match. Shame only one side, decided to use it to its max though. Even bigger shame that the team that did lost the match. Still, having just watched SCD, the best don't always win whatever the competition.
Their first goal came from losing possession on the half way line and having seen off the initial danger, U's failed to regroup and Bicknell, whether he meant to or not headed home in acres of space. It was a good finish.
Up to that point, U's had looked reasonably comfortable and with the wind seeming to blow in every direction, U's did play some half decent stuff. Their 8 was lucky to stay on the pitch having been booked for a crude challenge, he then kicked the ball at a prostrate U's player after he had been fouled. Second yellow that. But this was another, frankly, indifferent refereeing performance in the CS.
Much of U's play broke down on the edge of the box with former U, Chris Sessegnon matching skipper, Binns for much of the match. Ali had their 'keeper scrambling to hold an effort at the second attempt before Cloughy had a decent chance to score but failed to hit his left foot volley on target.
Second half, U's bossed the match in terms of possession with the home fans becoming a tad restless. The move that set up Dean Sinclair apparently invloved 18 passes as U's moved the ball across the pitch before Binnsy crossed from the right. It was on a plate for DS (if you watched MoTD, it was similar to where Richardson scored Fulham's first) but the U's midfielder, who is generally a good finisher when he arrives late in the box, contrived to place the ball the wrong side of the post with the home 'keeper stranded.
Had that gone in, I reckon the result would have been oh, so different but Bicknell, having just been booked for a rash challenge, profited from a ball down the middle that he finished with some aplomb past the out rushing TL.
Game over. 'Fleet hit the bar from a shot that moved more because of the swirling wind than the from the boot of the striker and Dundo did not get enough on a header that went wide.
The home side were well organised and good a the back and you probably need to take into account the appalling conditions but U's outplayed them for a fair bit of the match but goals win matches and that was the story of this day.
Good to see Marv back and Lee Sawyer did ok on his debut and had a very early chance that he struck into the side netting.

Thought you were all mad by the way for staying out in that rain - one or two of you may well end up with double pneumonia after that !!!
