Does what it says on the tin.
Win this and not only will we pretty much have secured 2nd spot, but we'd all but finish Concord's late play off challenge. They also have to play another 2 games before the final Saturday of the season. I think we can expect an open game and they will come here and do something they've not done before - attack. We've never beaten Concord. Mind you they've never beaten us either - all our 3 competitive games have ended up draws. Infact in our Ryman promotion season, they were the team we got the least points from (I think!)
Couple of other games to watch - Bromley hosting Stortford and Havant hosting Eastleigh. At the other end theres a relegation 6 pointer between Chelmsford and Tonbridge.

.....Final Score Sutton 1 - 0 Concorde 0......Well played 'U's' Unfortunately we did not play well. I don't recall their keeper making one save! While Jason Brown made several good stops and was my man of the match. Slabber made a late appearance and looked to be ready to make a start on Saturday.

My man of the match was without doubt Jason Brown who kept us in the game.

Jason Brown was a class act today - 3 world class saves including a double one in the first half. Bearing in mind the makeshift defence we had today, he needed to be for us to get a result. Overall we've played better and lost but it's been a case of "just enough to do the job". I expected Concord to come at us a bit more, but finally we've not drawn a game against them! Bromley managed to get a late winner against Stortford, no doubt reinforcing Stringers comments from Saturday! But Eastleigh lost and so did Ebbsfleet, who lost by the odd goal at Maidenhead (something we have also done in April!). From looking like we would play either Havant or Dover, now it's looking more like Havant or Ebbsfleet.
Just a trip to the seaside now. With Whitehawk now back in trouble, depending on other results, we could send a team down on the last day of the season....

Absolute master class from jason brown. If his first half double save had been in the prem sky would have it on a loop and would be creaming themselves. Grinding performance that did the job. Great to see slabs back after marvs return on Saturday and Isaac philpot can be well proud of his debut as he stepped up to the plate. Today was all about delivering the second place that gives us an advantage in the play offs. Frankly I couldn't give a toss how we got it.

As we have found in our previous encounters with Concord, they are a well organised, resolute and hard working outfit. What they came up against today was the best 'keeper in this league by a country mile who made numerous excellent stops and the double save in the first half was just outstanding. To be fair Micky S and debutant Isaac Philpot did very well and young Philpot showed a maturity beyond his years, proving, that alongside Ben King, Sutton has an excellent set up beyond the first team, superbly marshaled by James Bracken and his team.
Concord players were left on the floor at the end as their best efforts could not manage them a goal. Dundo showed them how with a brilliant header from BK's excellent cross. Dundo was falling away from goal when he headed it but to get that purchase and direction to score was something else. Fans' POY and SUFC legend. His popularity just grows and grows, deservedly so.
Ok, we were not at our best today but with so much experience and talent missing at the moment, was that a surprise? Those who did play put in a great shift against a side desperate for points and once again won through. As I've said before this squad has it all, skill, a hard work ethic and loads of character.
Good to see Slabbs back on the pitch and more minutes to for Marv, who looked lively.
Finally, at last, a decent ref, although Concord may have a case about that penalty shout. Still, we've had plenty this season and not got them.

Unsurprisingly a back four lacking any first choice defensive starter let them in a little easily at times but individually they were all decent enough. Brown obviously won the day and he has been consistently excellent. We now have the luxury of resting who we feel needs one and of course playing those in need of minutes. We can play without worry next week and then hopefully give the play offs a right good go. If we can get 2 (though ideally all) of our missing 4 defenders back for them that would be grand. No idea how possible that will be. I wonder if things are set up for a fresh Marv to make an impact on the big season ending games??! There will be some tired defenders out there for him.
