Scannell and Sawyer were an embarrassment today. One thing to try, and end up playing badly, it's another thing entirely to throw your hands up and refuse to try, or even in the case of the second goal, in Scannell's case, slowly walk back carelessly. Marv let himself down as well.
As for the rest, tried, toiled and failed.. badly.
Well done to Dover. They are not pretty to watch, but were deserved winners, and with 10 men.

Thank god that's over. Pathetic, absolutely pathetic.
Good luck to Dover in the next round. Thoroughly deserved it on today's performance!

Let ourselves down badly. Maybe it would have been different if Dundo goes on and scores rather than being brought down. Shame he didn't quite get in the box. We have struggled when teams come and get everyone behind the ball and today showed it again. We had no urgency all day, no tempo. Balls into the box were a waste of time against their giants. We didn't even do what we normally do and win the aerial battle at the back.
Very disappointed as I'm sure are the players and management. All that being said we have been on a great run and should be congratulated overall on the season.Onwards to next season we go. Hope we didn't lose some new fans today.

Time to regroup, we'll win it next year. Whenever I feel down I can always turn to the fact that we're not Carshalton to cheer me up again

Other than the obvious disappointment today, I would like to say a big thank you to Jason Brown and Kane Haysman for their services over the course of the season, both have been fantastic.

OK so it's just a little over 2 hours since the final whistle, and I thought I'd give myself time to calm down. I did say that on Wednesday night that we looked impotent attacking, but that was nothing compared today. Forget about the margin of defeat, that's actually irrelevant. The case was more we never looked close to scoring. A combination of weak shots, playing wide when we could have had a pop and how terrible we were at any set pieces. Freekicks all off target, not one effective corner...
In 2010 I was disappointed but understood we were beaten in a freak game. I'm not even disappointed because we have not gone up after a great season. I'm just very disappointed that when it counted we produced such an inept display. The performance today was so bad, any team could have come to GGL and would have won easily. Dover probably can't believe how easy it was, given the fact they were a man down for over 95% of the game. I knew from the moment they got the first goal it was game over - we never looked like scoring and Dover were going to park the bus and waste time - like I said the margin was irrelevant, it was the win that counted.
It's just such a shame after a fantastic 2nd half of the season, with some great performances and rightly deserving to be 2nd place that we threw it away in such an awful fashion. At the final whistle it was interesting to see that Dos didn't come over to the fans like usual - I would expect he was as angry as many of them were.
After today I'd be happy never to be involved in a play off ever again. We're sh*t at them. We've played 6 of them and we've won 0. Infact all the ones we've had at home we've lost.
Well done to Dover, nothing against them today. They came, worked out how poor we were and punished us.
I don't want to single out any players in particular because honestly all players who played today (except Jason Brown to an extent and Spetch who didn't really get a chance thanks to Ricky cheating Modeste)let the club down today. There are a couple there who I won't miss if they didn't play again in a Sutton shirt based on today, but they are not only to blame.
At least we don't have to go to Eastleigh next season. Trips to Dartford, Hemel and Wealdstone for us....

All the hardwork over the season, especially in 2014 smashed away in 90 mins by a masterclass in how to play with 10 men and win. Can't take it away from Dover they did everything right, allowing U's to play up to the edge of the box and then crowd the ball out. Once they were one up, U's had to press more and the second two came on the break. Have to say Modeste's finish for the first was far better than his challenge that ended Will Spetch's season. Apparently the ref's assessor reckoned the ref (and indeed his assistant) missed that one.
As for U's we just didn't really turn up; lacked energy, ideas and had to rely on too many efforts from distance. A couple of players were off their game but as a collective it just didn't happen.
Feel for Dos as much as anybody. Heart and soul from him week in week out. A massive commitment to this club, he must be so disappointed at the moment. A bad end to a fine season. I haven't seen any team play as excitingly as U's have this season but in the end the play-off lottery did for us again. We'll just have to win the bloody thing next season.
Can't see the p/o final being too attractive - more a war of attrition.
So, with Fulham going down with not even a whimper and today's result I'm off to find a cliff edge. Now, where would I find one of those?

Some harsh words on here for a team that have got us to our highest ever Conference south finish. It wasn't us out there today, I don't know why and in truth we didn't look ourselves on Wednesday either. What has to be remembered is that we only have a small squad and we have been creaking for a few weeks, and boy did we miss Binsie and his quality to unlock doors.
I agree with Andy we would have lost to anyone today, it just so happened to be a rather agricultural Dover side playing kick and rush and defending for all their lives. Nothing wrong with that, but if you want to go up and stay in the Prem you need more than that, and if Dover do get promoted I would put a few quid on them propping up the table.
We failed to move the ball quick enough, our passing wasn't up to our normal standard and neither was our defending for which we paid the price. I don't think we will win a playoff match if I live to be a hundred, and now 4v5 in the final which may make the conference rulers happy, but will do nothing for the quality of the Prem.
Dos's interview will be up shortly, he is down at the moment and as gutted as everyone else.

We were dogsh*t today, no other word does our performance justice. We can make excuses about the ref (awful, just awful - him and his assistant should be reffing in the combined counties next season after allowing Modeste to go unpunished for that challenge on Spetch), and Dover tactics (I have never seen a team at non league level with such highly developed 'gamesmanship') but the buck stops with the team. Some of the defending was clown-like and our attacking play pedestrian, at times we were passing it around like it was a pre-season friendly. The manner of that defeat to a team playing with 10 players will take a long time to forgive, no matter how well they have performed for much of the season.
I feel sorry for Craig Dundas, he's been immense this year and deserved a chance to play at conference level, and Spetch, who looked very solid despite recent injuries until Modeste came right through him) but everyone else performed so far below their ability level. I know no player means to let the supporters down but I do feel a thorough examination of what went wrong needs to be made so we can put it behind us, rather than just saying 'they outplayed us' or whatever. I know Dover played to their best on the day and but I also expect their fans are laughing at us after our side's display, and this is a very unpleasant feeling.
