I'd venture to suggest that this season is likely to be hugely important to the football club, going forward. We all recognise how bold the season ticket offer is and having a good season (which doesn't necessarily have to mean promotion) should see us retain a fair proportion of new (and hopefully long-term) supporters. It would set us up nicely for several seasons to come (certainly financially, and hopefully from a results perspective as well).
I wonder if Dos will be setting any targets this season. I'd like to see three achievements: 1. A play-off position at worst; 2. A decent run in either of the two major Cup competitions (e.g. 1st Round Proper in the F.A. Cup or the last 16 of the Trophy); 3. A healthy increase in the average gate (difficult to estimate at this stage while season tickets are still being sold, but is close to 1,000 unrealistic?). Oh, and of course winning the Surrey Senior Cup!! So, four things. (If I'm not careful this could start sounding like Monty Python's Spanish Inquisition sketch.......fear, surprise, a ruthless efficiency and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope!)

The SSC can do one as far as I'm concerned. It's been nothing but disappointment for more than 10 years.
One target this season - win the league. No play off. No just missing out. Target is the National South title. It has to be. Heading towards that target will also increase our average gate. Remember when we were going for the league in the Ryman - we were in the 700s. With better supported teams like Dartford and Maidstone joining our ranks it's possible to get above that.
Cup competitions - a nice bonus, and would be great financially (esp a live TV game), but not at a cost of the league. At least we know the chances of games at home being called off are minimal now and therefore fixture pile ups will be less of an issue.

My hopes are that we play some decent, positive stuff at home and go into the last 10 games in the play off picture. That to me would be good progress. Our average attendance given the season ticket sales is clearly going to be much higher, how high will depend on how many more we can shift. Add maybe 100 more a game for away support and non season tickets holders and it will probably be close to that figure at a guess?

Dos makes no secret of wanting to manage in the conference national, so is number 1 target, the FA Cup and trophy are for money and the SSC only becomes important if you fail at everything else.
The key thing is that we are moving forward as a club with our infrastructure and community links, all of which will set us up for the future. We know we may well get a team that can get us into the conference but our hurdle is to stay there, and thats what the next few years is about for me.

I'd say FA Cup and Trophy also important for profile as well as finances.

Give the Academy side a run out in the SSC. Gives them a proper trophy to play for.

For me, the same counts for play-off games where our record is quite frankly appalling. In 6 play off games, we've yet to notch up a win - two draws (Ironically both away from home)

Give the Academy side a run out in the SSC. Gives them a proper trophy to play for. I agree with this. Whilst we have the makings of a very decent team, so do a couple of other sides. It's going to be a tough league to win this season. Still with the resources put into the squad and club in general this year we should have winning the league as primary goal. I'd love to have another good FA Cup run (possibly with a nice local to Jared away tie.... ), as if anything a good FA Cup generates local interest and increases the number of people turning up for home games.

Look at Preston North End. Unsuccesful in 10 attempts in the play-offs before last season, but then they went up winning 3-0 in the final. I'd still rather we won the league. Winning the league is pretty bloody ace

All the above comments are fine, we should always set goals. The one I would like to see, is us winning our opening game, preferable at home. That would get the season off to a great start.

Dos has already said that the development side will be used in the SSC this season.

Dos has already said that the development side will be used in the SSC this season. That's expecting a lot from an untried & tested team the standard of which he hasn't seen.

You could say the same about any team at this time of year. The first team is also a new team, even though it contains a lot of familiar faces.
Edit: meant to add that the SSC doesn't start until halfway through the season anyway so the team will have plenty of time to become established.
