What a night. For me, the best I've ever seen a Sutton team play. Paul Rogers was outstanding & you really could not tell who were the non-league side. I remember Tony Rains coming on the coach to apologise for losing!!!!
And the police blocking the motorway (ring road?) to let our coaches onto it to give us a swift exit from Middlesbrough.
The big question though, where have those 20 years gone?

'Twas ever thus, Taz. I bunked off school to go an FA Cup replay away to Waterlooville - added difficulty then was that my teacher was also there ! (Ted Powell).
Have to agree about the Boro performance though, best I have ever seen a Sutton team play.

We were lucky in the Coventry game but matched Boro all the way over 2 games plus extra time. Anyway 20 yrs on I was wondering how it would feel to salvage our connie south place this season and how that would compare to any of the above feelings?

Lennie on the fence at Peterborough celebrating the third goal - a top 3 SUFC moment for me. Ah those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end...

In my mind, I think it would match it. What would beat it I think would be winning the FA trophy or winning the league in the last minute. If Ern the Turn does this (and lets face it, it does look a lot more possible than it did in November) it would surely be his greatest achievement as a manager

Top 3 for me (& as usual contaversial, perhaps)
Anglo-Italian Final 1979 - you just had to be there to understand. And because of the momentum it began. Middlesbrough (away) 1988 - best performance I've ever seen from a Sutton team. Coventry 1989 - well, we won!

I'm with Frakers with Middlesbrough away and Coventry but my 3rd choice would be Leatherhead at home when we won 11-1. Never again will we see someone at this level or higher score 9 goals in a game.

I saw the reserves beat Dorking 10-1 once, but that's not quite the same! Our Naz was playing, and I think he scored 6 of them.

Sadly, many of Sutton's fans were born too late to enjoy Sutton's FA Cup runs between 1987 and 1995 (though I believe Sallycat saw some of our foray to the second round in 1995/96 . The club really owes it to the younger supporters to have a proper Cup run soon!

Coventry was obviously the best result and the last 5 minutes of that game seemed to last about an hour. The best performance has to be either Middlesbrough away or maybe Peterborough where we really stuffed them on the pitch and out sang them on the terraces. Happy days indeed. I don't suppose any of the current team would even have got a contract at the club if they had been around then.

The club really owes it to the younger supporters to have a proper Cup run soon! Tell me about it. One Surrey cup, choking the chance for a place in the last Trophy final at the old Wembley and a League title i was too young to have seen and appreciated properly is not a lot to show for 8 years of support when you consider how some of us saw those cup runs, consecutive Conference appearances, Isthmian titles and regular Surrey cup wins in their first eight seasons. Such is life Lets hope Ernie can sling together a cup run next year Sadly until the silly money drops out of non league football younger fans like me (is 20 young anymore?) will never again get to see the stunning cup runs from the boys in Amber and Chocolate.
