The somewhat ebullient sixth Strikers are Key draw of the seaon ended in jubilation for Ray and Derek Holmes, owners of ball number 22. Not only did their ball emerge from the purple velvet bag but they chose the right key too winning a handsome £700 in the process!
Congratulations to them as we move on to draws 7 and 8 in a fortnight's time after the home match v AFC Fylde.
Until then!

It's double SAK draw tomorrow after the match v AFC Fylde.
Draw 7 (in respect of the match v Dover) - £350 in the safe thanks to three superb strikes in the last two fixtures from Ross Lafayette, Tommy Wright and Kieron Cadogan.
Draw 8 - a minimum of £550 (or £200 if the safe is opened in draw 7)
See you there. Players' Bar 5:35pm.

Strikers are Key draws 7 and 8 duly took place after today's 2-1 victory against AFC Fylde, and there were very different outcomes.
It was win win in draw 7 for the owners of ball 29,Neil Allen and Graeme Carter, who selected the right key and won their " Merseyside Branch" syndicate the £350 main prize. Congratulations to them!
Draw 8 saw ball 16 emerge from the purple velvet bag, owned by the syndicate "Lucky Striker", comprising Tony Cove, Bob Hasler and Stewart Howe. Sadly this time they were unable to open the safe winning the £50 consolation prize instead.
We move on to draw 9 after the game v Ebbsfleet on 28th Oct.
See you then!

After what seems like an age, Strikers are Key is back tomorrow!
Draw 9 of the season will be made in the Players' Bar after the match v Ebbsfleet.
After Tommy Wright's late, late goal at Hartlepool and Dundo's fine header at Aldershot, the pot has swelled to a minimum of £550.
Will the safe be cracked? Find out tomorrow!
See you then.....

Ball 35 made its eagerly-awaited debut appearance out of the purple velvet bag in yesterday's Strikers are Key draw made after the goalless draw with Ebbsfleet.
The owners of the syndicate " The Mark Watson Fan Club", Nick Williams, Fred Knopp and Brian "Wellie" Waite have been waiting patiently for their turn at trying to open the safe, which, following Tommy Wright's fulminating strike at Hartlepool and Craig Dundas' fine header at Aldershot, contained £550 yesterday.
Sadly Nick couldn't turn the good fortune of ball 35 finally appearing into a windfall for the syndicate; the three amigos winning the £50 consolation prize instead.
It all means that a minimum of £750 will be carried forward to the tenth draw of the season to be made after the match v Halifax on 18th Nov.
Here's a stat for you - the next draw will be the 100th Strikers are Key draw since the scheme was introduced in 2013.
Another brief stat for you -.nine balls have still not made an appearance in the 99 draws made to date - numbers 1, 8, 23, 25, 27, 30, 34, 38 and 46. Surely their luck must change soon?
The most prolific appearances? Balls 9, 11, 16, 21, 22, 26, 31, 37, 39 have all been out four times.
What's that they say about the luck of the draw?!
Thank you for your continued support for and interest in the initiative and for your patience listening to me disturbing the peace in the Players' Bar each home League game!
On to draw 100 we march.

After what seems like a very long time, we have a home match on Saturday which means Strikers are Key is back, the tenth draw of the season.
Unbelievably this will be the 100th appearance for Strikers are Key! To celebrate this landmark we are adding another player to the list of those whose League goals count towards the kitty. Yes, Tom Bolarinwa is back and he's on the list!
After goals from Ross Lafayette and Craig Dundas last Saturday, a minimum of £850 will find its way into the safe this week.
See you at 5:35pm in the Players'' Bar on Saturday.

Ball number 25 made its first ever appearance in the 100th Strikers are Key draw made after U's 3-2 win v FC Halifax Town.
Ball 25 is owned by " The Management" comprising Micky Stephens, Clive Baxter, Bobby Childs, Steve Beck and Brian French. Busy doing other things when the draw was made, club captain Jamie Collins stepped onto the Strikers are Key stage to try his luck at picking the right key on their behalf.
The safe was swelled to a cool £1,000 thanks to Ross Lafayette's brace and Craig Dundas's goal in the 3-2 win over our visitors from West Yorkshire, but sadly Jamie chose the wrong key and only £50 found its way to the hard-working "Management".
We move on to a double draw after the game v Eastleigh on 2 Dec - draw 11 in respect of Tuesday's game v Torquay United and draw 12 in respect of the game v the Spitfires that day.
Someone is going to win big soon!
Onwards and upwards we go.

Min £1500 (or £300) for draw 12 ( v Eastleigh)
See you later!

It was a jubilant Players' Bar which greeted Strikers are Key draws 11 and 12 after the 2-0 win against Eastleigh which propelled the U's back to the top of the National League table.
The jubilant mood was doubly felt by the owners of ball 43, the syndicate " Hooray", comprising Rich Smith, Dean, Nicky and Mark Beckwith and Jamie Collins who scooped the £1,200 left in the safe after the match v Torquay .In their absence today, Simon Walton stepped forward and followed up his fine performance on the pitch with one off the pitch which his teammates and their family members will be particularly pleased about as he selected the right key on their behalf!
Draw 12 followed, the coffers swelled to £400 by Strikers' brace of goals in both League matches v Guiseley and Eastleigh. It was the turn of ball 26 to emerge but, sadly, Gareth Miller was unable to emulate the outcome of the previous draw. He picked out the wrong key and thus had to make do with the £50 consolation prize.
Onwards we go to draw 13 after the match v Tranmere Rovers on Sat 23rd Dec when a minimum of £600 will be up for grabs.

It's the Christmas bumper Strikers are Key draw on Saturday after the match v Tranmere Rovers.
Before the regular draw ( for which a minimum of £650 will be in the safe), there will be a draw for a 2018/19 season ticket, the first of two festive bumper draws - a season ticket for 2018/19 will also be won before the Strikers are Key draw on New Year's Day after the match v Boreham Wood.
It's a busy old time. Bring it on!

The £50 consolation prize found its way to Keith Dodwell and Peter Dillon, owners of ball 9, " The Old Ds" syndicate in the thirteenth Strikers are Key draw of the season, made after the match v Tranmere Rovers. Sadly the £650 main prize eluded them this time round.
Better news for owners of ball 29, " The Merseyside Branch", Neil, Graeme and Mark who won a season ticket for 2018/19 in the first of two extra festive draws. The second chance to win a season ticket for the next campaign will be after the match v Boreham Wood on New Year's Day.
Merry Christmas everyone! See you on Boxing Day.

It's the New Year celebration double draw after tomorrow's match v Boreham Wood as U's busy festive programme rolls on.
The second of two 2018/19 season ticket winners will be drawn first - Neil Allen's " Merseyside Branch " (ball 29) won the first one after the match v Tranmere- before SAK draw 14 takes place in which a minimum of £850 will be up for grabs.
See you tomorrow
Happy New Year everyone!

Mark Frake, Mark Kidd, Bob Budd and Chris Vagg, owners of ball 44, the " Last of the Summer Whine" syndicate, will have to work out which of them receives the season ticket for 2018/19, won in the New Year draw made after the match v Boreham Wood.
Steve Grant made it a Strikers are Key New Year's Day win double when ball 23 emerged from the purple velvet bag for the very first time (in 104 outings!). He then chose the right key winning himself and fellow syndicate member, Paul Tate, £850 in the process!
Congratulations to all concerned!
Onwards and upwards we go in 2018!
Happy New Year one and all!
