Lithuania play on a 3G pitch, England have already had a moan about it but Scotland said that's OK we'll just have to lift our game.

They might have to raise their game if Lithuania actually turn up, unlike neighbours Estonia on Scotland's last jaunt to the area.

I'm guessing that the statement is going to call upon the Football League for a new vote on 3G pitches.I'm sure they will be extolling the benefits to the community & the clubs.

I'm guessing that the statement is going to call upon the Football League for a new vote on 3G pitches.I'm sure they will be extolling the benefits to the community & the clubs. I thought that. But given that ourselves and Bromley are currently occupying the top two places in the league, I wonder if there's also now an agreement on what stance to take in the event of one or more of the three 3G clubs finishing in the top seven. We'll find out tomorrow.

Well, the statement is out on the website, and very interesting it is too. Just don't read it in 'portrait' mode.

It is a hard hitting statement and it shows how out of step the EFL is in forbidding 3G. I hope it forces a re-think but I am not holding my breath.
Wisely they do not widen the argument to hybrid pitches and injuries. Evidence is mounting that a combination of hybrid pitches - grass growing through a coarse net - and 4 studs in the heel of a football boot can impart damaging twist to the knee and ankle joints during player collision. The same collision on a standard grass pitch and on a rubber 3G pitch will result in the studs twisting in the surface well before the rotation at the joints becomes damaging. 3G is at least as safe to fall on. The injuries caused by 1G pitches, more broken wrists collar-bones and hip injuries, are not being seen on 3G.

At least in reading the statement it gives hope that there is a chance of legal action, maybe as a last resort, but with 3 clubs working together hopefully there would be enough clout to present a solid case.

It's actually more than three clubs working together. Over 50 are members of 3G4us, including Wycombe Wanderers from the EFL.

Oops!
"The FA, UEFA, and FIFA all support 3G pictures as safe to play on"
Delighted to see clubs standing up to leagues, very strong statement and exceptional point re destroying an all-embracing community facility.
The irony in the 'unfair advantage' counter-argument being that dissenters are presumably insisting upon a level playing field for all.....

That argument doesn't make much sense to me anyway. If a team is allowed to play on a rutted, half bald, soggy pitch that they're used to and their opposition isn't, how is that less advantageous than a uniform surface that's similar to what many clubs train on?
Even if there were an unfair advantage, one could argue that it's the league who are perpetuating that by ensuring that few clubs will choose to use one.

If clubs really thought it was an advantage they would all be using them.

The press conference should now be underway. Let's hope the issue gets some positive media coverage.
