Enjoyed this podcast, unfortunately the sound quality during the chat with Dan was poor. The music choice was great, I particularly enjoyed the last track.

Last season kind of grizzled out from the point of view of doing the podcast. I had to go away for a funeral and then missed the moment really. That said I am trying to organise myself so if you are remotely interested in being on the show please fill out this form goo.gl/forms/NsZtX4yJZVOmLnrs1 Thank you.

Worth a listen for those who still think the club is responsible for changes to viewing the match.

That's an interesting point from Dave F about club bar takings being even better last season than during the preceding season's FA Cup run. I wouldn't have expected that. With the recent demise of The Plough, there's no reason why that can't be bettered in the forthcoming season. Given that the next nearest drinking establishment is the uniformly ghastly Gander Inn, it's fair to say that local competition is thin on the ground.

Has The Plough gone then? Must say it was a strange experience to say the least when I went in there.

Yes, it's all boarded up now. Not a hostile pub by any stretch, unlike the Gander Inn, but unless you only drink lager, it was extremely limited in choice, whereas the Times Square/Players' lounge have a variety of quality ales on offer.

A shame in a way. But I remember when went in after a delayed train after a game at West Sutton they didn't take card payment and the taps on the bar were ornaments! I've never ventured to the Gander but I do enjoy the Robin Hood. Very convivial in there, especially after the re-fit

Yes, the cash only Plough with half its taps always off was a strange one. Agreed on the Robin Hood, very friendly boozer and the locals are always welcoming and after the long overdue refurb it's a quality drinking establishment. Plus it's the pub in which Sutton United was born, a fact which they should probably make a bit more of.

They should. I do like it there. The garden area always seems to be sun drenched in the summer months. It never looked dingy before the re-furb, just a tad dark. My dad worked there for a few weeks part time before I was even born so a bit of nostalgia for me too.
The Spoons in Sutton is also quite nice, it doesn't seem to capture the same atmosphere of every other Spoons in the country. Well, it didn't until Boring Wood fans bombarded it a couple of months ago.

Ah, but which Spoons do you mean? There's the Moon on the Hill, which I haven't been in since they served one of my friends a dodgy pint which smelled of rotten eggs, and the Grapes on the High Street, which is by far the better of the two. But the best boozer in Sutton at the moment, is the relatively new Shinner and Sudtone. With an ever revolving array of real ales, it's always got something new to offer, my current highlights being Titanic, an award winning plum porter from the Potteries, and Stay Puft, a marshmallow porter from Wales.
