That would be the Moon on the Hill then, the dodgy one of the two. When my friend put it to the bar staff that a decent pint shouldn't smell of rotten eggs, he was told that they didn't know what a decent pint should smell like because they didn't know anything about beer. Goodness knows how they got through the job interview.

Sounds like they didn't pass their Yates' exams Well I've been there only once and it seemed OK. I like to go to Sutton station and wander down that way. Have one in the Old Bank, Sutton Arms and then drift to the Robin Hood.

In regards to your previous post if you ever find yourself on the Pantiles in Royal Tunbridge Wells you would love a pub called the Pantiles Tap. Wonderful place with so many weird and wonderful beers that you'd run out of sticks to shout at.

A little off my usual path that one, but I'll bear it in mind. I rarely even make it as far as the Hope in Carshalton, a pub much loved by the CAMRA fraternity. Last time I went there I was in full Sutton regalia, which the Bobbins-loving locals weren't much impressed with.

The Tap is also cider pub of the year in Kent for the past two years if you like that sort of thing. They have around 20 with one being a whiskey barrelled one at 6.9%! Not my drink but pretty spectacular.
16 taps of keg and cask ales make it interesting.
CAMRA are kind of laughable. They rate beers but then bugger off to the Spoons in Tunbridge Wells which although is an old Opera House, it's essentially a dump.

CAMRA rate pubs on a number of criteria. If a pub's a bit of a dump it can still do pretty well if it serves excellent beer. Wetherspoons can be a bit hit and miss but at least their beer is usually drinkable.

That's right.Spoons are usually a safe bet for a drinkable pint at an excellent price.I usually prefer to chance my arm a bit which has resulted in some great finds and also some disasters!!

Maybe I worded my post wrongly. The Wetherspoons in Tunbridge Wells isn't a dump in a sense. It's a wonderful building reminiscent of the Albert Hall in some ways. Just a lot smaller! Still a big pub though but what I should have said instead of it being a dump is the clientele that frequent it, so apologies.
The beer though, on the few occasions I've been in there has always been fine no matter what I've had. Pity about the standard of service. It's not great.
