You can rely on Dos's post-match comments to cover the half-time talking-point in the VP's queue for tea. Which was that we had 11 of our best players out there but the shape was wrong. In fact TB went 30 minutes without a touch. Partly through not positioning himself in space and where the man on the ball could find him with a pass, but mainly because the rest of the team weren't looking for him. They were intent on putting TW in, but he was struggling to lose his marker. The tea queue conclusion was that KC needed to come on in place of TB or TW.
And lo! it came to pass. Overall I think Aswad or the skipper deserved the MOM, though Tom did make up for his anonymous first half with an eye-catching second half.

Another three points for U's from a generally comfortable evening, the visitors failing to cause much concern.
First half Sutton was in control but lacked penetration as Woking, as they did at Kingfield, packed their box and made it very difficult. Craig E was unlucky when his fine effort curled onto the bar but eventually the goal came. There was muted celebration as it was difficult to work out what actually happened. Did their 'keeper - who was motm at Woking - spill it to allow Byron's simple finish?
Second half, KC replaced TW and U's doubled their lead with the former setting Harry B down the left and his low ball was turned in by Tom B with a lovely finish into the far corner. Fitting reward for Tom B who looked the liveliest of the forwards in the first period. Byron had a chance to double his tally but Baxter was quick to snuff the opportunity out but thereafter, U's were happy to let Woking have the ball and they did little with it.
The whole back four had decent games save one scare from Terell in the first half while the midfield, with Craig E in particular, working hard on and off the ball. Can see why Tom B was given motm but this was another solid team display and we had the added bonus off seeing one of Dundo's runs late on. Is that 9 away from 500? Suppose i aught to know!!
We had our old mate back refereeing and he kept his cards in his pocket all night which was surprising as the visitors gave away many a foul - nothing bad but on the totting up system, well. Still, it did allow him to give Craig E the benefit of the doubt late on. He made some odd decisions and both teams had penalty shouts, although had Woking got and scored theirs it would have been a travesty - they really were fortunate to get nil.
Another good gate and a decent turn out from Woking.
Onto Solihull. One of the form sides in the division since their managerial change and they will provide a far sterner test than was offered to Sutton last night.

We sit 11 points above 8th. What would be a realistic target for a play off spot? 76? Another 10 points in 10 games? Without hazarding a guess as to who the National League Champion will be I do believe the top points scored will be around 86 with second place achieving 85 points as this is such a tight league this season. And, as your question re 76 points seems spot on what do you reckon on the winning number?

And, as your question re 76 points seems spot on what do you reckon on the winning number? Good question. Well Macclesfield can finish on 101 points if they win all their games. We can finish on 96 points. As far as I can see only one side has finished top with less than 90 points in a 46 game season (Burton in 2009). Bearing in mind how close this league is, I think realistically getting over 90 points will probably win the title this season, and if we use that benchmark, then Dover and Wrexham are unlikely too (they can get a maximum of 87 and 90 points respectively). But probably closer to the truth will be a side winning the league with a total lower than Burton's 88, and it going into the last weeks of the season with 4 clubs still in with a shout, so I think your suggestion of 86 and 85 for first and 2nd is probably bang on the money!

For what it's worth, Football Web Pages currently predict that Macclesfield will finish top with 88 points, us 2nd with 84 and Aldershot 3rd with 81.

What we need is an end to the season along the lines of (identical to!) 2015/16. Apart from disappointments of a couple of defeats in the Trophy 3rd Rd and SSC to lower league oppo (sounds familiar), didn't we win 10 out of the last 11 in the league...? Now wouldn't a repeat of that be nice!!!

Looking at the stats, its going to be very very close if all things remain the same, the form table doesn't have a fag paper between us and Macc. That that dodgy penalty at The Moss may end up being the difference

Flicking through Tuesdays programme and specifically the "About Woking" section I was genuinely surprised to read/learn that Woking spent some years during the 80's all the way down in Isthmian leagues 1 and 2. I always had them in my mind as one of Non-League footballs powerhouses.

I recall a SSC Final in the mid eighties at Imber Court...we met "little" Woking in the final and won 4-0 without seemingly even getting out of 2nd gear...it could have been 6 or 7 as i recall. Since then (as we all know) Woking have risen up the ranks and for a while were a considerably stronger outfit than Sutton. Nice to see the old order restored though

Where are you skiing, Delboy? Saalbach Hinterglemm in Austria. Not been there before. Enjoy. Friends of mine in the know suggest that conditions are great. This time last week we had a real dumping on the Swiss side. All gone now and a nice smooth passage to the UK for today's game.
