Back at GGL this weekend where we entertain Hartlepool after recent away trips (and losses) to Fylde and Halifax.
We could really do with a reversal in results now as we not only look to confirm a play-off place but also go into the play-offs with some form..
C'mon U's!!

This would seem to be the easiest of our four remaining games (which is not the same as saying it will be easy). Three points would probably be enough to secure a play-off place. If we lose, that would be four defeats on the spin (and five in six games). So no pressure!

Must win game to ensure we stay in the top 5, need to get behind the lads, they need our brilliant support all the way through the remaining four games, get a win tomorrow and another point at Maidenhead and I think that’ll be playoffs secured

I am sure we will not field the same type of team that started against Bromley, where five 'centre half sized' players, if you include Walton, were exposed for pace on a slick surface by Hanlan.
If we should go ahead in today's match we must not try to sit back and defend the lead, because we have not been good at that for some while. Employing Fergies tactic is better. Defend by keeping the ball around the opponents' goal, where if there are to be any flukey deflections, the ball ends up in their net.

On another day we could have scored FIVE. Now on to Maidenhead for that very elusive win !

On another day we could have scored FIVE. Now on to Maidenhead for that very elusive win ! And also on another day Ross L would have got 2! In all seriousness though, the biggest thing stopping us winning today was their keeper, esp in the first half.

It's still in our hands for 3rd place as results (again) went in our favour.....

A missed opportunity against one of the few poor sides we have seen this year. Should have had a comfortable 2/3 goal cushion first half. We went very direct and got bodies in and around the knock downs and tbf it worked well first half. Hartlepool didn’t cope. They probably had one shot, one touch in our box in that first half and that’s how it has gone at the minute. You can’t afford to miss as many chances as we did.
That said they improved against that tactic 2nd half and frustrated us. Felt we lacked composure and a few cool heads a bit 2nd half. Allowed too many silly free kicks and didn’t keep the ball. I think we could have played a bit shorter once they had shown they were dealing with things better. If we were on song and without worry I’m sure we would have been talking a fairly big win tonight. Maidenhead huge now in the context of the extension of our season.

First off, today's performance was an improvement on our last home match (the 3-0 defeat to Bromley). We took the game to Hartlepool in the first half, and, but for some fine saves by Scott Loach and last-ditch clearances by his defenders, we'd have notched more than the one goal that Ross L headed home from a free kick. They equalised from a rare foray forward, a cross from our left not being fully cleared and the ball falling to the feet of Josh Hawkes.
We lost some momentum in the second half, and there were few chances for either side. Bringing on Kieron and Ross S for Tommy and Kenny gave us more width, but it wasn't quite enough. Whoever decided to give Ross L the MotM award did so before seeing him put that last-moment chance over the bar.
One point from this game has turned out to be of more use than it might have been, with Aldershot, Fylde, Wrexham and Dover all losing. We're still third, but a lot now hangs on the last three games. Take maximum points and third place is ours. Take no points and we can kiss goodbye to the play-offs. I expect us to be somewhere in between.

Forgot to mention in my earlier post that it was great to see Nicky Bailey back in the team. His defensive and passing qualities have been missed. This was his first match for two months, and he was a contender for MotM.

Thought we dominated the first hour, Hartlepool had the chances I’m the latter 30 minutes, a draw is a fair result, other results went our way, happy with 3rd at the moment and I think everyone should be compared to where we were last season in terms of league finish, also won £15 on the national so a good day today.

Aswad Thomas was motm for me, he always seemed to be available as an outlet and some of his crosses were very impressive. A lively, spirited performance which bodes well for our remaining games.

Great to see Ross Lafayette,Nicky Bailey and Josh Taylor back. Felt Ross made us look a lot stronger up front and echo the comments above about Bailey & Thomas. For me though Terrell Thomas has become my favourite player and played excellent once again

Terrell Thomas is outstanding at this level in my opinion.
